1958 Tucker Sno Kitten Model 222 (Locke’s Ski Tow)

Tightened up the plug wire situation. Added a new throttle return spring.

The oil pressure line was removed and plugged for some reason. Had one out of the 442 project. Hooked up to test and we have pressure. Need fitting to complete the install.

Replaced the pump to carb fuel line that was twisted.

Fuel system buttoned up for now. Not loving the pump to carb line. It’s a stock anglia which didn’t allow for the sediment bowl filter. Will make a new one when I clean the carb.

Vacuumed the tank out. This Milwaukee attachment did the trick. Pretty nice for 6 decades.

Connected the new tank to pump fitting which has tight tolerances to exhaust. Rubber not a great solution.

Fueled up and took a driveway lap no leaks running great!

Full working gauges.

My guess is a leak developed and they just removed one day and plugged for simple solution. Great oil pressure.

The firewall bend is how every tucker I have see is which is a factory hand bend. The aluminum wear matches so that’s what we went with. Isn’t enough clearance to make a nice and get the line though the wall. Had to flare and bend under the dash after attaching to motor.

Moving on to carburetor next. Then the wiring which is a mess.

My guess is then light beacon was added at the dealer family said it was delivered that way.

It appears tape either initially or eventually was the loom/securing method of choice. Think we can do a little better here. Will be switching that wire to match the vintage cloth wire.

All the wiring will be replaced with the correct style/color shown. Need to figure out the lighting situation. Can’t tell if the gauges were ever backlit yet and headlights don’t work.

awesome kitten, i dont think that oil pressure line will live very long, really need a braided flexible hose and a grommet at firewall, would also step it way down in size in case of failure(minimal mess/loss)

i get it ...carry on looking great  perhaps i should stop prepping for a second moon landing and actually finish my own rig lol...... the tin foil held up great the first time around

Got the kitten up in the air. Have some small leaks and the rear end is leaking since I changed the fluid which I think is the drain plug.

This clutch pedal spring is lacking. Gong to find a better configuration.

I know the belief is that these didn’t come with mufflers but everything under here looks original. Maybe dealer option.

Diagnosis is fuel pump so far. Pulled the pump apart it looked same as when I rebuilt and it ran fine.

Pulled the carb apart looked great. Re assembled and the pump is over fueling meaning the check valve on pump isn’t working over powering the float valve in carb.

Tried blocking the pump line while cranking and it built much pressure. Going to source a new one at this point. Ran fine for a bit.

We had a Pertronics l on our Bombardier SV200. A LookieLoo started it up but left the ignition on after running a bit and I did not notice it. Zap. Pertronics fried. Switched to Series 2 and no more worries. I tried to get one for our Kitten but so far no luck.

I am not a fan of aftermarket ignitions. I can MAKE points work, those solid state parts tend to be fragile.

unrelated is your furl sender one page back. 90-10 ohms?

I don't have a sender, but do have a gauge.. I want to make it work
