What are you doing today, II

Well, Fever has been absent for about 8 hours now. Joint pain has also subsided. I am feeling pretty skipper so perhaps I dodged a bullet or it was just a three day flu. One like I've never had before.

Likely just old age. My doctor of thirty-five years has warned me that I will be dying, someday, of absolutely nothing. I said, if I do get sick I always let him know I was sick at my next physical. And he is complaining that except for my annual physicals, in all that time he has never made a dime off of me.

Not for illness, much less injuries.

Today I shoveled snow so I could put out the trash they probably won't pick up for days.

Been enjoying work being slower and getting some of my projects done, just got a phone call for a job walk tomorrow, it was a bitter sweet call, likely going to screw up my free time but I also need money for the projects.

Sent off a box of things to Dasha in San Francisco. Kids are expensive. The box was neither large, nor heavy, but it cost US$98 to ship an 18" by 15" by 12" box, with $200 of insurance, from Indiana to the west coast via UPS ground. YIKES.

Babysat the internet repair guy this morning, but think we are making some progress with repairs to my existing system. He explained a lot.

This afternoon I'll be heading off to high school fencing practice with one of the neighbors (she actually lives a few miles away) and helps coach at the school, her mom is going to bring her over to the house and then we start the 45 minute drive to the school. We have about a fresh inch of very light powder snow that fell last night on top of the snow we had. Roads locally are clear, no ice.

Chatted with a couple coach friends who are in Kansas City right now for a big national tournament. They are hoping to drive home from KC to Chicagoland today. KC apparently has 12" of snow. The roads apparently suck to the southwest from central Illinois west and south. I think it is stupid. Spend one more night. There are multiple people traveling in 2 cars. They are thinking of traveling together, one following the other.

Been a long busy day working and new employee is working out great for me. He came in on time and is a hard worker. Got that Ford Edge torn apart and it needs 2 cam phasers too and did call the customer to let them know it was going to be more. Said do it, 2 new cam phasers coming tomorrow. The 2 semi trucks, the services were done and the customer paid the bill on the spot. Even got one in on the hook as a no started finding the problem, Found it was out of gas. The customer's daughter did not look at the gas gauge which was on E. They came with a 5 gallon gas can full of gas to fill it up

I've been down for the count for days with a bad back. Today I got up and could stand again. So I headed downstairs and decided to tackle painting the stairway and hallway. Next is the rec room as the previous owners were obviously on something when they picked the paint. I didn't realize that "vomit orange" was actually a color option.

Did get my Chevelle in to put the 6.0 in that I built for it and runs good. I put on a Holley Sniper 2 EFI system on it for the fuel system. Did not have much to do anyway. Now at the body shop getting some body work done to it next week

Crumpy is in New York for a few days. We are moving the granddaughter there to be with her mom for a while.

She drove 28 hours in this weather to do it. I'm not sure to be proud or worried.

Meanwhile, back at home, I'm shoveling snow when not downstairs working on project there. The furnace room has become a collector of all sorts of :"what to with this stuff?" Time to clear it, set some cabinets and make it possible to work on the utilities centered there. Gas lines, Internet, Water lines, water heater Slop Sink. Some storage TP paper goods and cleaning supplies.

It is a maze of extension chords for circuits i need to hard wire. The plan is to live long enough to get them all done. But first, I have to get all the crap outta there.

Crumpy's absence means two things.

One) I get to decide what to do with the stuff.
Two) I have a few days to come up with acceptable explanations for those decisions ( # One) I made without her permission. :whistling:

You were left unsupervised!

:applause:

Met son's new girlfriend and I approve. Going to meet up with a guy that has a 1933 Ford for sale, all set to be built for a street rod putting in a small block Chevy in it. I have a 350 that came out of my Chevelle which will be going in it

Start a thread on your project it will be neat to watch the project
my projects are just keeping my family's vehicle's running my grand daughter brought her car over the other week the "flex joint " rubber universal joint on the rear axel was bad and shredded I replaced it looked at the car and said she needs to start looking for a new one rear subframe has 50 cent holes in it and on its last legs.

Day four of my un-supervised existence. So far no catastrophe's. Spoke with Crumpy this morning and she is doing well in New York State. Nice house in an upper crust neighborhood. The granddaughter will do well there living with her mother for a while.

So, with her gone, I can finally get to some issues with her room. It is lower level but has a huge egress window into the green house. The green house makes for a better view than the neighbor's garage.

Bathtub/shower needs to be re-caulked; some light fixtures don't work; a chest has some water damage. We had a huge rain event, and the greenhouse pump did not keep up. So, behind the chest may be some damaged drywall. And last but not least, her queen-sized bed needs a new mattress.

Unfortunately, changing out the mattress is a big deal as I must lower the basement steps to get the old one out and the new one down into the lower level. The step unit needs four bolts removed, no big deal. However, it is quite heavy, and we have to move a lot of furniture to get that done. Also, it takes two strong people to get it done. Crumpy and I are in our 70's but we have a neighbor who handles concrete for a living. He'll do.

We have three months before the granddaughter plans to come home. We'll get it done,,,,somehow.

Then to the pool room. We put up wallpaper some 30 years ago. It shows it's age. So, remove all the shelving, strip the paper and paint.

I guess this is my punishment for retiring. Sentenced indefinitely to years of "Honey-do's!"

Report on the Holley sniper after using it for some time please, I have considered it but keep seeing bad reviews online. It would be good to hear from someone that is actually unbiased. How about starting a thread on your Chevelle in the auto section?

I was at a Pancake breakfast this morning with my scouts troop cleaning tables at a local legion that holds monthly breakfasts. We do it every month. Then I came home and finally got to test the new plow I put on my sxs before Christmas. We hadn't gotten any snow until now. My plow truck is currently out of commission as I'm waiting on a part for the plow pump. At least I have a backup plan for lighter snowfalls. It started snowing last night. We've gotten about 4" so far. I just wanted to get a pass done out to the road as it's supposed to snow until tomorrow night. I'm very impressed with the plow considering it's a cheap bolt together 3 peice blade.

Been a good day for me. Went to church this morning and decided to schedule the local handyman and appliance repair guy in this week. Came up to ask me after the service was done. Good thing is they pay me on the spot. The handyman, a good look over and brakes on his 2nd work van. Said he has heard them squeal in the front. Appliance repair guy,oil change and front brakes with his truck. Plus another member's niece came up whom is visiting for the week said her boyfriend worked on her car and it is starting to run bad. Told her bring it over tomorrow. Found out he replaced the spark plugs and a coil in her 2014 Toyota Corolla and I will find out what he did wrong

Seems I just have no luck with snow plows. I went out to plow with the sxs for about an hour. Everything was going great until it wasn't. I rarely used my winch in the past 6 years but it's worked great when I did. After only 45 minutes of plowing, it stopped working. The motor still runs and it slowly sucks the cable in but I can pull it out by hand with it in the lock position. I already ordered a new one. Thankfully I had most of the main drive done and had just started the back heading to the garage. I will say that I am impressed with how much that thing will push.

My son found this video and it is one reason why I will not work on another Mercedes Benz anymore deciding on this 6 years ago

I feel the same way about BMW's. My son owns two and I will not touch them.

However, I still own a Mercedes product. A Chrysler Crossfire, which is pure Mercedes corrupted only by a hood badge that says Chrysler. Oddly enough, no Chrysler dealer should ever come close to one, and they don't. And most Mercedes dealers will not let me on the lot.
