What are you doing today, II

Today I am taking Kobe to school, then hoping to work around the house.

Yesterday Coach Kobe was on the competition floor at Northwestern University "coaching" the Purdue team at the Remenyik ROC fencing tournament.

I also had a bunch of other kids there. The 2 girls in this photo are also mine, but were competing against Purdue. Girl on the left of the photo is now fencing variety women's saber at Cleveland State University. The shorter girl on the right of the photo is a high school sophomore, competes Homewood Flossmoor. Both competed in this tournament. I had several boys from the high schools competing in the event as well, one took 6th place.

How much longer will they be open with things running?
Hesston Steam Museum is open weekends Noot to 5pm at least into December. This month they have the Halloween Train . . . sometime in November they will switch it over to a Santa Train. I think they shut down and reopen in the spring.

I should buy a lottery ticket. I'm out moose hunting this week. I spend the morning scouting out a cut for us to watch this evening and found a trail at the back good for birds. I was stopped outside the sxs when my buddy called. I drove back to the truck and loaded up then headed back to camp. When I got there, I discovered that my phone was missing. I drove back 20 minutes to where I was last on it and searched the entire 4km of dirt road back to the highway....twice. Then drove back to camp. My buddies were going to hunt the cut I was scouting out and found it on the dirt road near a puddle almost back to the highway. No damage.

No one has one locally 4-5 days on line for one. it gives me time to remount the heat shield that the flopping drive shaft knocked off.

This was from last week but someone gave me a newspaper today.
The American Legion and VFW merged into one building. I'm a member of both.
I'm in the picture, towards the middle, in front.

I was supposed to be out moose hunting all week but unfortunately my back had other plans. I was wide awake in pain at 4:30am yesterday and instead of getting ready to head moose hunting for the day, I made the call to end my hunt and head home. I've been home all morning nursing a sore back this morning and now waiting for physio.

Tuesday home AAA tried working on granddaughters car getting one seized bolt out I rolled over with my arm under my side and felt a pop and pain (Boy I wish I had a lift) and didnt get bolt out
I couldn't sleep well tuesday night last night still made it to work, I went to bed at 6:00 and slept restless till 5ish and went to work today feeling better but still sore hopefully I'll get it fixed this weekend.
On the good side today I was told to wrap up my project next week and submit it next Thursday, so I'm back to being retired. next week.

grandmother is happy she has her spare car back
All's happy on the home front for now.

I shuffled trailers around the yard this week. We're storing mom's 31ft motorhome here along with the boat she recently bought. Then we have two fifth wheel campers. One is for sale. But they both have to be stored. I backed everything up onto 2x4s and covered the tires for the winter. My back hasn't allowed me to do much this week since I got back from hunting. I did get out to the deer blind behind my shop to place some feed and a salt lick and saw fresh tracks yesterday. I'm only allowed crossbow archery or shotgun in my yard as we live in the country but on the edge of a small village. I've been doing some target practice with my new crossbow learning what it likes. I used to shoot archery but can't anymore due to my back.

Spent the day refurbishing the Greenhouse. Every winter I put fresh bubble wrap on the windows to help insulate from the cold. It comes 36" wide on a big roll and my Granddaughter uses it for packing in her internet business.

My windows are 33.0" wide so, it is just cut and staple to the 4X4 studs.

Eight windows 36" X 78" and the corrugated plastic ceiling which is 36" C/C rafters at 84.0" long. This creates a 3 1//2" air pocket that works quite well. THE bubbles diffuse the sunlight for an even distribution in the room.

Time for the "tenders " to come inside for the winter. And, I have three tomato plants and three pepper plants as well. Crumpy has a hydroponic garden with various lettuce and greens.

Today was fix my suburban day windshield washer leaking pump was cracked remove reservoir replace pump re install didn't work
tear it back out and found I bent the pins on the plug so it wasn't making contact fixed them reassembled them and its working
my rib was protesting the whole time.

I drove down to the canada/us border to pick up a control panel for my hot tub. Came home and loaded up garbage to bring to the dump. We don't have garbage pickup and the dump is only open Tuesday and Saturday. When I got home I went to work installing the new board. It was giving me the same thing error code as before when I tried it at first. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the hot tub store that sold it originally. He was telling me the new pump I installed last year was faulty. Ok. I did my own diagnostic IT department specialty and unplugged both pumps and plugged them back in while there was still power to the board. That did the trick as it's now heating up and cycling.

So I plugged one of the pumps into the wrong place yesterday. It was up to temperature and one of the pumps was circulating normally. It's all back together and working

I was out doing high angle rope rescue practice with out local DNCR Forestry crews 6 hours of raising lowering people and practice rescuing hunter from tree stand hanging in his harness

Had to buy a new phone.
I had been using my 2 year old Motorola Edge up until Friday, it somehow locked me out.
I was screaming trying to get it to work, took it to two Verizon stores, then a place in Wauseon to have one of the techs look at it.
He said without a pin or a saved password it was useless.
Soooo I bought a Samsung Galaxy s24 , then proceeded to get all of my passwords back so I could log on anywhere.
It's been a damn nightmare.
We don't realize how important that thing we hold in the palm of our hand controls our life.
I literally lost all of my contacts and things that were very important to me.

Somehow got it all back.

I went over the US Cellular because they have a lot better tech support.

if you use gmail you can pull your contacts over to your new phone
passwords that's another story but a hidden text file that is encrypted and stored in different places on different devices I use AxCrypt app

In line for early voting. I rarely get into town so this is all new to me. A long line of people clad in camo, Carhartt, working jeans and USA logos. One girl wearing PINK brand sweats and holding a Starbucks cup… closest Starbucks is 2 towns north of here. She seems out of place in this line.

Heading to Hippie Ridge for a week of projects.
Installing main electric power to the utility shed. 100 feet of ditch and pipe to bury it.
Setting up a deck for two storage sheds.
Unloading a 24 ft dump trailer so we can sell it.
Fixing a leaky sink faucet in the small camper.
I will be offline until next Wednesday.

Sunday mass in the morning.

Played 'cars' with Kobe and rewatched Chitty Chatty Bang Bang, but it was mostly just on in the back ground and we only watched bits and pieces.

He played outside this afternoon.

Watched Trump at Madison Square Garden, absolutely zero hint of Hitler detected while if viewed it. But maybe I blinked?

Monday I'll be taking Kobe to pre-school.

I've been working on pre-building a window seat with a storage cabinet under the seat for her corner window nook. Basically got the rough lumber frames pre-built. I'll be hauling those pre-built units up to her condo on Tuesday. But there is a LOT more to do than just those roughly pieces. Facia. Top. Piano hinge, with a hatch. Round over routing of the top edge for comfort. Most of the work will happen inside the condo. But I want to get some, actually as much as I can, pre-built, pre-primed, before I haul it up to Chiraq.

I scored a couple of good barely used duratrac tires for my truck this morning for $50 each. I'm going to look at a couple more tomorrow for the same price. A new $2000 set isn't in the cards right now. I was trying to get the winter out of my firestones but picked up a screw in one the other day. When I got home from picking them up, 2 deer were waiting for me with their tongue stuck out as I didn't have my bow with me.

Now, I'm waiting for my youngest daughter to come out of school so I can take her to have braces installed. 😬

Took Kobe to daycare "school" this morning.

Tossed a load of laundry into the washing machine, another into the dryer. Gathered up trash to get out to the road.

Mid-afternoon I will be heading to one of the high schools to help coach fencing. I'll leave there and go to the fencing club this evening. Home about 9pm, maybe earlier if I leave the club early.

got about 3 cords, need about 5 for the whole winter.
WOW, you do it a lot later than I do.
In the last couple days, I put up all the firewood I had around... for the winter of 2029-2030. My firewood is stacked deep. I've learned from experience (medical issues, e.g. hip replacement) that circumstances arise whereby getting firewood on any particular year may not happen.

I'm behind the ball at camp I might have 1 cord and need 3 for the winter with my back acting up it didn"t happen calling a guy tomorrow to get 2 delivered.
I wanted to get a coal stove years ago but the boss said we have all these downed trees. but she can't run the chain saw or run the log splitter (in her defence she has back issues too) so next spring I'm getting a stove for my 50 wedding anniversary or the might not be a 50th:mad:

I got some insulation and studs from Lowes took it to camp today cleaned out our bedroom getting ready to insulate and stud it out (its a pole building) next weekend, I already have a whole lift of drywall there for that part all the rest of the rooms i uses 10' drywall to eliminate some seams my back said to go to 8' pieces this time.
