What are you doing today, II

The only thing I've done today is housework and grocery shopping.
I stopped at Hong Kong buffet for my usual Friday food, so I don't have to cook tonight.
Napped a lot yesterday because working Wednesday into Thursday morning wiped me out.
I'm back to work Sunday night again.
Yeehaaa lol

Another bad back day. -18c this morning. Going to +10 by Sunday. The barometric pressure knocked me on my butt again. So other than a quick trip to the city this morning (half hour round-trip), I decided that today is a dad day sitting at home. I did get some ceiling fan light fixtures working this morning. 16ft ceiling with 2 fans in the living room and one in our room. The previous owners never put bulbs in as they're oddball bulbs. I found some and got all three working with extended pull chains. She who must be obeyed will be happy when she gets home. Oh, and sweet n sour meatballs are cooking for supper. The sun is shining. Just me and the dogs hanging out all day.

Spent another day working on the cabin. Slow going doing the ceiling, doesn’t help that I don’t really know what I’m doing and we’re working with rough cut lumber that we ran through a planer so it’s not all perfect and straight, but I’m getting the character I was hoping for.

Wow. He's sure growing.

I drove my son to work in the buick then came home and grabbed the truck and flat deck trailer to go pick up a facecord of wood for the garage. It'll be for next summer as well. I had all these great plans of getting out last fall to cut a trailer full of wood but never had the time. This winter, I have been just too damned sore to do it so finally bit the bullet and paid for a load. Not even worth firing up the chainsaw for $100 for the same amount of wood I would have cut last fall while out bird hunting. That also meant splitting it with the wood splitter once I got back. Every time I went bird hunting, I would carry a chainsaw and fill the back of the sxs with firewood. By the end of fall, I'd have a facecord stacked for the garage for winter as I heat with wood, an 80000btu kerosene/diesel burner and a 220v electric heater. Depending on how cold it is and how long I'm out there.

I'm in the process of doing mine as well, but I’m snowed out right now. In your picture I think I saw insulation. Did you use the plastic vent channels ? I used them because I read that if you don’t vent under the insulation it will sweat and rot the roof.

I cheaped out and used the cardboard vents, or insulation stops some places call them. The plastic ones took up too much space in the rafters, I just went with 2x4 to try keep the weight down as much as possible as it’s built on a trailer and obviously not to code. I ripped 1/4 thick strips of styrofoam insulation and slid it between the cardboard and the roof to make sure that the gap remains between the two after putting the insulation in. I’m not too worried about it sweating as it’s only heated with wood so will be cold when it’s not being used. If it was heated full time I would have put more into it. It’s only 12x24 with a wood cook stove so it’s easy enough to keep warm I’m thinking.

I think anything that lets air circulate is good, and like you said the sweating would happen when it’s hot in the cabin, which is not all day or everyday. I was thinking the same thing.

In Florida. Friday night went to Chimas on Fort Lauderdale. It's a Brazillian style all you can eat place, like a Fuego de Chau (sp?). Yesterday we went out fishing in about 90 feet of water off of Key Largo. Didn't catch much but we had a great time. 9 yellow tail. Then descaled and gutted. Went to Robbies on Ismarelda key. But they wouldn't cook it for some reason. So then stopped and had a piece of Key Lime pie at the famous key lime shop . Then went to buzzards on largo. They cooked our fish. This morning went down to everglades. My son knew some guys with air boats. High horsepower big blocks. These guys actually have a house in the national everglades, only accessible by air boat. The property is leased for 20 year segments. Anyway, saw a bunch of gators and other wildlife and went crazy fast on these boats. Heading over to Jupiter now for dinner.

I won't quote y'all's adventures as you're having too much fun.
I did some day drinking (beer) to flush out my kidneys after surgery.
Found out my neighbor is some sort of social media guru and does product reviews. He told me he gets around 60 packages per week from places wanting reviews.
I told him I want his scraps. Just products he can't use. This can work out.

Been getting ready for tomorrow, go in for surgery to get rid of a lump in my right breast 5:30 in the morning. Keeping my positive spirits knows my breast cancer was caught early. Will go back to work on Tuesday not doing heavy work, this is for 2 weeks, my 2 employees were informed of this and understand

Spent my birthday slacking off. Slept late, had a waffle breakfast and laid in bed until late afternoon Daylight Savings Time.
We had a lot of totes from the storage. Went thru them to sort and discard what we don't want to keep.
No presents just had fun opening boxes to see what useless items we paid money to have stored.
I worried someone would have brought me a bottle of Scotch.
That would be a problem of temptation.
I gave it up for Lent.

Happy birthday!
Sitting here at Jupiter inlet smoking a cuban with brothers and son. We all took a drag just for you Frank.
If that's this Frank and not Franc, damn I miss those things. Sitting out on the deck with a glass of good Scotch and a cigar was one of life's pleasures. I can sit out there with a Scotch but somehow it's not the same. It's an Abott and Costello, Rowan and Martin kind of thing. It's just not the same on it's own.

Happy birthday! Sometimes the best gift really is just some peace of mind.
I’m the same way — my birthday’s more like a day to chill and do nothing. But my parents are all about the big family gatherings around the table. By the time the celebration rolls around, I’m already out of energy from just thinking about putting it all together.

It's March break this week so all the kids are home. Well, two out of the five still in high school full time. Our adopted daughter is in an alternative school doing homeschooling now so she's always home anyway. I had a virtual appointment for myself online this morning. I'm trying to convince myself to head outside to do some work down by my shop but the dampness is killing me with temperatures a few degrees above freezing and snow melting.

It's a bit too dry for my liking but I'm rolling the lawn. I like it soaking wet, to the degree the ATV almost gets stuck.
I did need to knock down all the mole piles so I can see what's active so I can put pellets down. Put the ZTR's mower deck all the way down then used that as a plow to knock the piles down before hitting it with the roller.

Quick update as I'm one happy mf today that I got down to the garage after lunch to work on my plow truck which has been out of commission since last summer and is finally in operation.

K....maybe not so quick of an update. I had a fried starter wire last summer on the plow truck which led to a $1700 bill for a new starter power steering pump and hoses new fuel pump in December. I brought it home from the shop and went to reconnect the plow to discover the pump lift motor was fried. Ok. Ordered one and it came in. I went to install it and the thing popped apart. There's spring loaded magnets inside the motor that brush against the coil to produce the power to turn the hydraulic pump which lifts the plow. So after messing with it for 3 weeks on and off in my spare time, I abandoned it and ordered another one. It came in. Same thing happened. I turned my attention back to the first pump sitting in pieces on my workbench and managed to reassemble it. I got it mounted on the pump last week. Hooked up to the plow and lifted it but wouldn't go back down. I ran out of time and didn't get back to it until today. I went down. Topped up the hydraulic fluid in the pump and it came to life. It shouldn't have taken this long but when you're in constant pain it takes a lot longer to get things done.

Recovering from surgery this morning, it went well getting the lump out of my right breast. Been getting the visitors and my brothers have been over helping out making sure I am taking it easy

Jules ...my fellow LPN and best friend had a freaking awesome 3rd shift on Sunday night.
It's been a long time since I can honestly say that.
This is what happens when you have two knowledgeable nurses together who've been giving their life with honest commitment.
There were NO agency nurses in the building- period.

Yesterday was spent sleeping mostly. Lol

Today, I took advantage of the beautiful weather and took two long walks through Oakwood Park.

Breast implants, because you're transitioning from HIM to HER.
Enough already.
Some of us aren't stupid.
Just stay with your other forums and leave this one.
I know you've sucked in some others on this forum who believe your bullshit.
I'm not one of them.

I'm still working on the furnace room upgrades. Two walls that were not going to be sheet rocked looked bad with the bare studding. So they got drywall the other day, tape and mud yesterday and paint today.
We have two more matching cabinets at the other end of the laundry. I have decided to install them as well. First, I have to clear them of contents and then build legs for the table they are currently holding up.

I'll build them today whilst the paint dries on the new walls.

.....and on that note 🤣, I actually had a busy day despite being hobbled over in pain for most of it. Here's the rundown for anyone who cares...
-drove our 15yr old in to the city to buy him new boots
-worked on the plow truck front tires inserting sealant to stop leaking and the aired them up and drove it around the yard to properly coat the tires. Now that the mechanical is semi ok I plan on doing some body work this summer just to preserve whatever isn't rusted.
-loaded up all the weekly garbage and went to the dump
-started installing a couple of additional overhead lights in the garage
-made a yummy stir fry for supper
