We had 3 other couples over for games and 🍸 🍹 last night. This morning the lovely missus went to church while I went to a monthly breakfast at a nearby legion where my scouts troop volunteers at cleaning tables. I get a free breakfast out of it and mostly just stand there for 3 hours directing the scouts to clean tables and bus dishes to the kitchen to get washed.

Still trying to put shingle bundles up on the roof.

And do it without falling off.

6 bundles yesterday, Five so far today
huf-huf
I'll do five more huf in a few huf more huf-huf minutes as soon as my Albuterol takes effect.

Last fall I tossed 54 of these 100+Lb bundles of Architectual shingles into the bed of my truck. I then moved them, one at a time, to my storage yard. Today, I can barely pick one up. I could blame the COVID #4 I had last month. But truly, I've just gotten lazy and soft of late.

Ran out of materials at the shop today, won't get a delivery until tomorrow. So I spent a couple hours removing a large tree branch that came down in the storm, from some of my fencing and kinda straightened it out. I will replace the damaged area when I have more time, looks like about 30' worth. I thought I was about done with property clean up and even bought some wood for burning this year, as I was about out of dead/ down trees. Not anymore. 3 big oak trees went down and a lot of branches 8" or bigger in diameter. I will get it cut up with here and there time over the next few months and have a few cord of wood for next years fireplace burning.

Monday morning is always a struggle. Kobe has to go back to daycare "school" and he doesn't like it because he knows that he won't come back here for several days. The start of the week is when he is transferred to Grandma & Papa.

After getting Kobe & the lovely Mrs_Bob into the car, I went about feeding the dogs and getting myself ready to get some blood tests taken. Tests from a month ago yielded some off results. Low white blood count, low red blood count, a couple other things elevated. Doctor's office called and said to stop my arthritis meds as they can trigger those results, then go have more tests. So I've not had any injections for 2 weeks, no methotrexate for a bit over a week. Got the tests done today. We will see what happens.

On a positive note, from my last blood test, my blood sugar dropped from 113 (pre-diabetes to possibly Type 2 diabetes) down to very healthy 84. I stopped drinking bourbon/alcohol for about 10 days prior to that blood test and switched to a "lower" carb diet. Nothing extreme like Keto, just cut out all sweets, cut back on most breads, noodles, etc. So I am again hoping that the blood sugar in today's test is somewhere south of 100 and outside of the "pre-diabetes" range as I've maintained a reasonably lower carb diet, but did have some bread, still no sweets. No alcohol for 8 days this time.

Not sure about the other stuff that they were concerned with, but should know more later this week.

Installed a set of driving lights on the plow truck. I also have a strobe beacon on the roof. The truck is just for personal use on our property but I do have to go out onto the road to clear the bank at the end and want to be visible as our driveway is at the bottom of a hill and is kinda hidden until you crest the hill.

Choosing to leave online shopping behind. I had mustard potato salad for breakfast. Today will be simply another day but more happy. I will retire like always to my bedroom and relax in there in my rocking recliner from after dinner until bed. My weird habit.

Got my blood test results back and things are looking better! Pretty happy with the results that I can see, waiting for the doctor to confirm that they are much better.

This afternoon I'm opening the fencing club after school, I have 6 high school kids coming in for private lessons. There are 7 kids from my club traveling to the JUNIOR OLYMPICS in North Carolina later this week. This will be there last opportunity for a private lesson before they depart.

As soon as lessons are done I'll drive 1.5 hours south to Purdue University to coach the Purdue Fencing Club at their practice today.

Should arrive back home about 12:15/12:30am.

I'm Roman Catholic so for me Lent starts tomorrow with Ash Wednesday. Today is "fat Tuesday" and I'm indulging despite the fact that I'm also dieting. So the 2 creme filled Polish donuts (Paczki) dusted with powdered sugar totally busted me. Also pounded down a 1/2 of a Kizka (Polish blood sausage with barely). Tomorrow I will observe a fasting and abstinence day, so no meat, only minimal food for health, no sweets, desserts, alcohol, etc.

I don't do the fasting thing but we are going to our church for a Pancake dinner. Our men's group at church hosts it and picks a charity organization to donate all the proceeds after costs. This year they chose my scouts troop. So I will be there in uniform.

Tomorrow is Valentine's day. So in Honor of St Valentine, a martyred priest, I will treat my loving wife to a good hefty meal.

Being a convenient Catholic we will avoid meat on Fridays. As a converted Protestant, I never understood the fish thing. Isn't fish a "MEAT!"?

We try to go meatless on Fridays but again, I am a convenient Catholic.

I took a walk down to the park that is near my place (Oakwood) then was immediately chased by a Canadian goose. They think they own the park, and that's ok, but I took off running like a bat out of hell.
Came back home, made dinner, then tried to relax only to have one of the managers beg me to please come in to cover tonight for a shortage of nursing staff. I was nice about it, but was thinking Bitch, what? No im not! I just pulled a prn on Sunday night into Monday and you never had a damn person to help me on a 32 resident unit.
I swear. I'm done with that place 😭

I had my haircut today by the young lady who has been cutting my hair for the past year or so. Last last week was her birthday, so I took about five moon pies down to the barbershop for her. She wasn't there so another lady said she would give them to her. Well, yesterday was my birthday, so she bought me a birthday card with a $15 gift certificate to the nearby grocery store so I could buy myself some sushi I like. What a sweet young lady! I gave her a $15 tip to get even with her. LOL

Why?

Last year when I bought them, I had no issues carrying them up the ladder.
I just got over COVID (my 4th episode) and still suffer some muscle fatigue.
Problem is that the roof needs a new covering.

Ah I understand the situation now , I've gotten roof delivery the last 2 times with a conveyor truck I highly recommend.
lately I've switched to using metal 5 rib roofing a little more expensive but worth it to me.

I thought about metal but in our subdivision the HOA board frowns on it. That said, all my roofs at Hippie Ridge will be metal.
