What are you doing today, II

Awesome.

I have 7040 acres now, and in negotiations to buy another 4 sections.
Thats some serious acres, Im happy for you. Have you even seen all of it yet? Im on 6.5 at home and have a cabin on 80. But 7040 is a whole new level.. The work on what I have is enough, I couldn't imagine your work load.

I have farm hands that do a lot of it.
Grow hay mostly, and grassing cattle for a cattle rancher to.
The cattle ranchers daughter is living with me, until its time to move them back to their home ranch for the winter.
She keeps care of the herd, they are grazing on fields that are out of rotation for planting this summer.

As for seeing it, I quad and/or horse back some of it almost daily, check on things some with my drone, and also regularly fly around looking at it from my paramotor.
There was already an airstrip built, and I use it for my actual plane.

I do land and water based toys. No air toys for me. So your land is your Business also. I am a general contractor on a play ranch with a couple horses and chickens. Is your property remote?

I also own other businesses, and still practice my profession occasionally, but yes the farm is a business.

It's about 45 minutes to town, I consider that remote.

Sounds like you got it together and are enjoying life, thats what its all about.

Getting things lined up for the next steps in the kitchen reno we're going through.

We were out of town camping for the past 6 nights just the lovely missus and I for a much needed getaway. While on our way last Monday, we had a blow out on our fifth wheel. My wife called roadside assistance for a change out of the tire at roughly 2pm. Estimated time of arrival was 4:45pm. We were on a 2 lane highway with not much shoulder with transports flying by steadily. I looked at it and decided that I could get it jacked up using the truck jack along with the rear stabilizer jack on the camper. I was just finishing up when roadside got there. Lesson learned. Don't trust older tires even if they were never used. This was a brand new tire that was the spare on the camper. It was covered but due to age, lasted less than 1000km before blowing out.

And shredded a bit of Styrofoam insulation underneath. Lol. Could have been way worse. I've seen complete fenders ripped off by blown out tires on rvs. Lesson learned anyways. I had three new tires installed on the fifth wheel in May and had them throw the spare on. I kept one of the originals for a spare. It was the spare that blew. It now has a new tire from the other fifth wheel donated as I had just changed all 4 tires last year on it.

Spent theday building a 5'X8' wood deck over the hole i dug 10 years ago to install a bathroom shower addition.
The Master bedroom bath is a two Holer with no tub or shower. I had planned this years ago but never got the permits to build.
So for the moment I build a deck to cover the 7 foot deep hole so I can at least store some stuff.

I spent the evening helping out at the fairgrounds behind our place setting up temporary fencing for the fall fair this weekend. There's going to be a fair, tractor racing, horse and livestock displays and more. Typical country fair. My wife is on the fair committee so I got voluntold.

I thought I rescued a cat while I took a walk down to Oakwood Park today.
The poor thing was just lying there looking all beat up. Asked this guy if he had a blanket or something in his car so I could take it home with me.
He was too busy fishing in the pond and said to me it's just a cat.
That pissed me off, so I walked back home and got a towel to wrap it in and called several other places so I could help this poor cat.
When I picked it up it died while I was holding it.
I brought it back home with me and called the police department because no one else was answering my calls.
It sounds like nothing probably to a lot of people, but I'm sitting here still feeling bad about a cat.

That's sad. If you have a shovel or even a little spade, you could bury the little guy somewhere.

Went to work this morning. Drove to Cody Wyoming to sample some dirt. Got back to the landfill about 3:00. Returned a whole bunch of phone calls. Just about time to go home, and go to a search and rescue meeting tonight. We've been very active this fall so we have lots of new people applying. Four interviews tonight alone! So possibly four new members! Wish us luck!

$hitty morning. Literally! I was at camp last night alone when my wife got home and discovered water on the floor in the furnace room coming up from the floor drain that goes to the sewage pit. I was on the road at 630am. Home by 730. Had the pump out by 8am and was at home depot with a new one by 10am and headed back to camp by noon.
I shouldn't have to do that again anytime soon as that appears to be the original as the cover had never been removed.
