Whats your weather like right now?

I am a dumbass.

For three days I have been trying everything in the book to get the main house to warm up. Bedroom wing was fine but the main house, not so much. I
I'm checking registers thinking there might be a blockage, a big leak, or something. From what I have no idea.

I'm looking at the plenum by the furnace and it hit me. I was on summer mode. Crap!

A baffle system I spent a day making and installing, it redistributes air from 50/50 in winter to 75/25 in summer. This puts more cooled air into the bedrooms for better sleeping. So, 70% of the house had 25% of the heat. No wonder it was cold.
Now, I have remembered to change this every year, spring and fall, since 1982 when I installed the system.
A brilliant idea that supposedly saves money.

Brilliance defeated.

Another day that I didn't get out of my sweats. It got up to 22°F today and is back down to 15° now. I have to get cleaned up, dressed and go into town tomorrow for a short while but that'll be it. It's supposed to be pretty much like today and warming back up a little on Wednesday. Both me and our outside cat are ready for it. The dog is in lightning fast pee and poop mode. She doesn't hang around out there.

It's finally getting above zero degrees here in NW Iowa. The high temperature today will be 5 above zero and 1 above for the low. Next week it will be in the 20s and 30s. That will be a LOT better!

Well, the sun passed noon putting it well over the greenhouse.
Clouds dissipated.

Finally!
The room is at 80% F and pumping free heat into the house.

Outside is 12% F

I got gas and it was bright sunshine but -6(F) and windy. That was miserable!

It has warmed up since noon, now it is a balmy 3 degrees (F) outside, but I see the trees moving around so it is still breezy out there.

I will be driving to Purdue tonight for fencing practice. I already know that I'll be taking the lovely Mrs_Bob's car and that her tank is below a 1/2 tank. I could make the round trip, barely, on that amount of fuel, but I'll fill it up and give it back to her with considerably more fuel in the tank.

17(F) and sunny today.

Winds have calmed down too. Not still, but only light breezes.

FWIW, last night I left the Purdue University campus shortly after midnight to make my return drive home, temps was about +3(F) at that time. I was on a 4 lane divided state highway (not an interstate) and I saw 1 tail light in the distance. Figured it was a car with a burnt out tail lamp. As I got closer I realized it was a motorcycle. A small one. Traveling about 45mph on a road with a 60mph speed limit. Damn, I hope that guy was not going very far.

he's a Siberian Husky - the "shaggy coat" variety. aka Siberian Shedding Factory . . .
he's happy to let the snow come to him . . .

slippers? slippers are for wimps . . .

It made it all the way up to 42°F today but is dropping back down below freezing overnight. It's pretty much going to be like that for the next week, 40s or higher during the day and cold/very cold at night.

By the way Franc, I got a text from our local water utility co-op asking everyone to check their lines for leaks and breaks as their water usage had skyrocketed this afternoon.

40% F and sunny. Greenhouse is warming the big house.
Furnace got a four hour rest.

That goes away in about an hour.

26(F) and dropping

Snow is moving in from the west.

Forecast is back down to single digits (F) with snow falling. Supposed to get snow of 3-5" in some areas 12+" in others.

So no clue how much we will get. Starting later this evening. Most of the snow ending before NOON on Friday. But Lake Effect coming into NW Indiana and SW Michigan could continue into Saturday with up to 20" of snow at the IN/MI state line. Or not. Who knows.

But it looks like it is a sure bet that it is going to get very cold again.

Topped off the diesel in the big tractor. Snowblower and FEL are ready to move whatever we get.

3” fell so far
Blowing and drifting
12” drifts
Mostly very light snow so drifting will continue
