Whats your weather like right now?

Finaly got well enough to work on the windows. I have four that are single pane that I'm gonna replace some day. For now, I put up bubble wrap to insulate them.

Two down, three to go. ,,,,... in the morning
14%F outside and blowing snow.

Trying to text my boy but he's not responding.

Yes but, it's the genes inherent every good mom. He's lucky to have one of them. (y)

I'm betting he knows that.
He certainly does.
Ty is my tough guy.
He despises me calling him "baby" or any of the other words Mom's use.
Now Jeff, being my gentleman giant first born softy, I can refer to him as any Mom loving her son would.
Probably because I had him so young and we grew up together. 😊

We're still sitting with less than a foot of snow. Normally we'd have over 3ft. And the long range forecast isn't calling for anything significant. Normally at Christmas, the temperature drops to about -25 Celsius and stays there till February. Today it's -18c but it's been hovering around the -3 to -10 range for weeks.

Snow is falling but not expected to add up to more than an inch or two. Should be on-off snow for much of the morning.

I should say it is blowing sideways. We have strong, sustained, steady crosswinds from the west. Blowing and drifting. Rural driving on the North/South roads along farm fields should be "fun" today. Because we had heavy wet snow, followed by rain yesterday, I expect a lot of the ditches and culverts to have ice jams and freezes that could result in flooding until all the runoff freezes.

Temperatures have dropped from mid 30's(F) to 22(F) currently with temps expected to drop continuously until we end up below 0(F).

High temperature for today (Saturday) has already been achieved and we've fallen 2 degrees since I've been drinking my morning coffee. High temperature for Sunday is expected to be 1(F) in the rural areas. For Monday it might be 0(F).

Right now it's beautiful. It's in the high 40s heading to a projected high of 58°F. Unfortunately, things turn to crap after that. The temperature is forecast to drop to 18°F tomorrow morning and not get higher than the low 20s all day. Basically, it's going to be 3 days of freezing temperatures with lows below 10°F and highs around 20°F with the wind blowing like hell. There's no real major snow forecast just a "wintery mix". I think that is a catchall phrase that means "I don't have a clue what's going to happen".

Fingers crossed for the Texas grid. They say that they have it fixed and there should be no problem with supply. It won't affect me much anyway. I'm on a small rural co-op with a back-up generator.

-11 right now.

It’s-35 here right now with a good breeze, windchill will be in the -40’s somewhere, supposed to get windier tonight and looking out the windows I’d say they’re correct. I’m supposed to haul grain in the morning, I’ll play it by ear I think. It’s been really nice here so far temperature wise this winter until the last few days.

-10(F)/-23.3(C) actual air temp

Winds have eased a bit, so no longer constant 30mph winds. No clue what the ‘wind chill’ temp is.

Similar yesterday but stronger winds

Same for the next 2 days

Running low on firewood tonite so it will be close.

I have two fireplaces going. I'm not low on firewood just on what I brought into the house.

It will be a cold, cold walk to the wood pile in the morning. Which may come at 4:00 AM.

Just finished a hot shower, cup of Earl Gray and maybe a nitecap. I'll pull the covers over my head and wake up about 2:00 AM to refuel the fireplaces.

Outside - 04 %F Inside tonite; 65% F
Green house at 45% F at 6 feet off the floor. Not good.

We are at 16F now. Expected to get down to 3F tonight. That's -16 Celsius Brrrrrr

No sunshine here in East Texas, heavy clouds. The present temperature is 11°F, up from 8° this morning. No wind though so the snow is just gently falling to the ground. It's not heavy but it just keeps on coming. It's supposed to be like this for the next two days.

The Texas grid is in trouble again. Three days ago, ERCOT was telling everyone that there would be no problems due to the cold snap as the Texas grid is stronger and more robust than it was back in 2021 when it almost failed. Yesterday they were asking people to conserve energy, especially during the nighttime hours because lack of wind and solar has severely depleted the contribution from clean energy. The exact same reason that the grid almost failed in 2021. Three years and we are still making the same mistakes, assuming that wind and solar are constants when they are certainly NOT.

I did not run out of firewood last night so I guess things are improving.

Sunny this morning and temps are a balmy -01% F

House is at 65% F.

The Condesation Furnace cycles of after a time period. I guess the burner has a time limit. After five minutes it comes back on.
Constant blower although it changes speed. Never really shuts off. Weird.

Meanwhile the space heaters keep trying.

The loft has an electric fireplace. No wood required. Full sun this morning coming through the five skylights. Plenty warm up there. We may spend the day there.
Meanwhile I'll be loading more firewood inside in preparation for tonight.
And thanking the good Lord we no longer live in Chicago.

Well, down here it is 25f now. Got some of that danged white stuff coming down. It is just rain that wont run off the high spots. Dont like this weather at all!!!!! Gonna see what I can do to send it back to you Northern folks!!!!!!

Cloudy -4 degrees and a NW wind at 20 mph.
Caucus's tonight. It will be interesting to see the turn out. After 4 days of blizzard, I bet it will become a social event as well.
