thyroid cancer diagnosis

Doc you have enough people praying I just hope you get better I will just eat a little more salt for you. although on the other hand my doctor wants me to cut sodium intake because of blood pressure.

Hang in there Doc....will be thinking of ya.......Will be praying for ya.......but then several years ago a minister told me I might be better off if the Lord wasnt to aware of my presents!!!!!:yum:

THANKS so much everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Much like PB said, the doc told me if I had to pick a cancer to have this is the one, as it is not life threatening and most times does not spread.

Thanks again for all the positive thoughts and comments, I will keep you all posted as I work through this.

I'm glad to read that the general prognosis is favorable. Here is to hoping yours is even more favorable than most!

My step-mother was diagnosed with extremely advanced stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer that had spread to her 'pelvic band', spine, liver, kidneys, lymph nodes and brain. She only has one sister living because the rest died from lung cancer and her living sister is the only one in their family who never smoked. None of the rest could kick the habit. My step-mom kicked the habit about 4 months ago when the oncologist said unless she promised to NEVER take even one more puff on a cig, he wouldn't even bother to treat her and she would have less than a month to live.

I guess it's better late than never. Even with treatment, the oncologist said that, realistically, she may make it six months. Now at 4 months (of admittedly grueling treatment), the chemo and radiation has stopped all further progress and existing 'masses' have shrunk 66%. I only mention this because, clearly doctors have not cured cancer, but their progress in battling it has greatly increased from just five years ago. All the best to ya Doc!! :thumb:

The good news, if there is such a thing, is that survival rates are really good and you can lead a normal life after recovery.

Update
I had the thyroid surgery and all went well until later that evening. I had a heart attack. Enzymes show I hav a blockage somewhere. Catherization tomorrow morning.

I'll b back online as I can. Those of u active on nct and ntt feel free to let them know the reason for my absence.

Good LORD!!! Ok .... just take care of Doc . We need him well . The guys are more than capable of taking care of this place . OK ,, maybe not me , but I holler a lot and keep everybody moving , so I might be of some help .

Seriously Doc , Prayers are sent and please take care of yourself . BD and the boys have you covered here.

Reminds me of my FIL - he went in for a colonoscopy and the colon cleanser caused him to have a stroke. It sure sucks getting older.

Best wishes Doc and I hope you are back on your feet soon.

Continued thoughts and prayers Doc. Wishing the best for you tomorrow. Watch out for the bruising....I had a doozy of one after mine in the spring.

May you experience fair winds, a following sea, and have the wind always at your back. You'll be in our thoughts and
prayers, Doc.

I missed this thread and stunned to read it....Doc get well soon you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thinking of ya Doc.....tie a flag on the tallywhacker so they know whitch end to cut on!!!!!!!:whistling:

Well, if you're gonna have a heart attack, a hospital is one of the better places to have one, right? Here's some good news. Talk to your cardiologist about beer. My brother's doc told him to have one a day -- it's actually good for the ticker!

I stopped posting in this thread because I was afraid that Doc would send us all one of those computer virus and get us all sick. Better go update my Norton.

Cancer and a heart attack!?!

Next thing we'll all be hearing from him is that he is incontinent too.

Stiff upper lip while you recover. Oh wait, that's Viagra. You don't need that yet do you?

Holy cow!! That is not what I expected, or wanted, to read. As the rest of your gang, I'm wishing nothing but the best for you!!! Don't go having a quadruple bypass while having your procedure lie my banker did! FWIW, he's fine now. Meaner than ever, and that happened to him over 10 years ago. Get well soon!!! :flowers:

Ok all i feel it is all our duty to help out whilst Doc is sidelined...

1..can someone inform all of Doc's forums that he is currently sidelined

2..maybe we can all keep a extra eye on the forums for spam, unwanted posts ect and report to the mods in the correct manner

3..make Doc proud and up our activity on the forums

anything else we can do list it no matter how trivial it may seem.

Abby needs to take food in for his nurses. I can teach him a couple of keywords that get their attention....:whistling:
