I've been diagnosed with thyroid cancer
Surgery is scheduled for Sept 26th. They are taking out the whole enchalata (aka thyroid). Doc said with pills I should not notice the difference once I've recovered from the surgery. Will have to watch eating iodized salt I guess.

Anyone else have this unfortunate experience?

Dang it Doc !I am sorry to hear this news . MY best prayers , thoughts and wishes to you .

Maybe a little R&R recovery in Panama is in order . I'll write the prescription.

Wow Doc. I am so sorry to hear of this... wishing you a speedy recovery.

I have not yet googled the issue yet, but what is it about the iodized salt?

Please google two items... good reads, and may be ok with your doc

ALOE JUICE - heals everything (starts with blood and organs) from the inside out.. it works.

sour sop - or guanabana juice. 1000% more punch than chemo.

talk to your doc first...

That sucks. Sorry to hear that Greg.

Prayers for a successful operation and full recovery.

My daughter had it two years ago it was really bad too, she had it in her lymph nodes. So far so good since the surgery.

I've got a bum thyroid and a small nodule that we are keeping an eye on - bad thyroids run in my family.

They say if you had to pick a cancer to get this is the one to pick.

Start stretching your neck as much as you can now - they really crank your head back when they work on your neck and the stiffness the next day is the worst part of the surgery.

Best of luck on the procedure Doc - I'll be praying for you.

Dang Doc! Sure seems to be hitting a lot of forum members the past few years. Listen to the docs and don't be afraid to question their calls on anything. You know I wish you the best.

Doc, I was so sorry to hear of your thyroid problems.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Jim

I really sorry to hear that news, Doc. You'll be in our thoughts, but you should be fine; you're too dang stubborn to let this
get you!

A friend on another forum had it. It was on the back side so the only way she knew that there was a problem was difficulity in swallowing. It took the docs a couple of years to figure out what was wrong. That was 10 years ago and she is doing just fine.

........... thinking maybe I should have not stopped taking my thyroid pills....
Not a smart move. I have hypothyroidism and learned that thryroid problems are very slow to surface, and the meds take a long time to stabilize those problems. Get a blood test and find out if there has been changes, and get back on your meds. The alternative is not good.

Put you on the prayer list, Doc. As was said, this is very curable.

Sorry to hear that Doc. Like others have said, quite curable. We'll keep you in our thoughts here.

THANKS so much everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Much like PB said, the doc told me if I had to pick a cancer to have this is the one, as it is not life threatening and most times does not spread.

Thanks again for all the positive thoughts and comments, I will keep you all posted as I work through this.
