Also added washers to try to help but didnt do much. I almost feel like the lower control arms are holding in place.

Just pick an air shock that is close to the factory shock or a touch longer. Don’t worry about the attachment stud being smaller than the bushing in the mounting eye on the shock, you can make a secondary bushing from poly tubing or rubber hose to take up the slop.
