1958 Tucker Sno Kitten Model 222 (Locke’s Ski Tow)

The Kidten was a big hit today. Actually 8 plus a hood ornament so only 9.

Swapped the original carb back in. Need to take a look at the rebuilt one. It runs super rich and the idle screw does nothing. The choke vent hole was facing down compared to the rear facing which seems to run best. Check the jets they all match will dive inside one day to figure it out.

Advanced the timing a bit for modern fuel and it is much happier.

Track is skipping on the driver side. That side is looser than the passenger which is not skipping. Will take up some slack put marker on the track and test.

I will say this after some seat time. Hats off Gmoose and son for the miles and smiles they put on their kitten. Lap around the yard I’m looking to get back in a 4 track!

Tulip Mania ended eventually hope these prices do also.

Now where to find another one?

Yes the little Kittens are a challenge, but notice the huge smile on the boy’s face. Nothing else we have comes close. And thus the big demand. Glad the sale of ours fell through last year.😸

Kitten has just not been running right compared how nice it was. Swapped distributors, carbs, chokes, timing and it’s loading up at idle and rough.

Was beginning to think valves hanging or compression and my luck unstuck motor was lucky no more.

As I was tinkering with the 56 kitten and maybe borrowing parts I found the culprit.

These NGK boots are thicker than OE. It’s tight to the firewall and throttle linkage. The flexing from last trips most likely the culprit.

Swapped out the NGK boots which are real nice but no flex to fit agains the firewall. The 56 has a little more room with the different motor mounting but still too tight.

These flexible straight boots work better but still not as slim profile as the OE. Will see how it holds up but think the 90 degree is the way to go in absence on nice OE anglia wires.

#1 spark plug was bad as well. Never replaced plugs after the first fire. Think all the oil that burnt out caused early plug failed.

Running real nice now even with some of the donor parts swapped around supporting its cousin.

Been chasing ignition gremlins on ever since I put the OE distributor back in.

Broke plug was a thing and now I’m getting weak spark on different cylinders. Guess I should have double checked the points adjustment screws. They must have been not tight enough from factory and I guess I assumed they were set correct but in hindsight that would be impossible with out being installed.

I can be a smart dumb one on occasion. Back purrfect now!

I have had similar issues with timing and dwell bouncing all over. Worn out bushings in the distributors.

Awesome, and not a rainbow in sight.
In Canada we can't have a parade without the kiddy groomers showing up.

Hi Brian, nice to see your Sno Kittens. I have fond memories of your '56. In the mid 1990s I did a lot of work on that and rebuilt clutches and brakes in the pontoons. I recognised right off from the round door knobs I put on it and the red muffler that I tried to paint black.
I used to drive it in the North Lake Tahoe Snowfest parade...
