What are you doing today, II

Sat around most of the day with my right arm in a sling.

Tore a muscle in my right shoulder. Just needs to heal. 4 to 10 weeks!?!

Meanwhile I have a bunch of stuff to accomplish and this is just going to slow me down. I need to remodel my daughter's new condo. Now instead of doing a good bit of the work I'm relegated to being the general contractor and paying people to do what I could easily do. I hate that.

I did go to the fencing club for private lesson night but gave no lessons. Others did the lessons. I just had the keys to open and close. So more sitting around with my arm in a sling.

Yea the shoulder thing can suck. I thought I had a rotator problem but what I discovered was I had/have some really knotted up spasmed muscles all around my shoulder, has been hurting for more than a year. I have been putting pressure on them with my other hand until they relax, also been using extra strength tiger balm. Over the coarse of a month I have it mostly worked out. Did some research on what causes it in the first place. One of the causes is being a little dehydrated and I have also increased my water intake. The other causes is strain and overuse. I am happy its not my rotator. I also think my foam mattress may have something to do with it, as I have woke up sleeping on that side and my shoulder was killing me. Getting old ain't for pussies.

Several years ago I tore my rotator cuff. Fortunately fairly minor. Still hurt like a MF'er.

This one is different. I can use my arm 100% from the elbow down. But don't ask me to raise my arm above my head or even to reach out and try to change the radio station on the car radio. Extending from the shoulder hurts!

Did you see a doctor or just experience with it

Rotator Cuff: Doctor and Physical Therapist. The PT was pretty much torture.

This new tear is just experience and talked to a friend who is an emergency room nurse.

I'm still wearing a knee brace from when I twisted it in February, its about 99% but I am going to continue to wear the brace for a while as insurance that I don't re injure it.

Ouch. That sucks Bob.

We're in full on spring with everything melting finally. I got to work in the shop changing the rear caliper on my wife's expedition. Then I cleaned up the interior dewinterizing it from salt. The highways department has switched to a liquid salt that melts everything buy it contains a fine sand that gets in every nook and kranny. Every Crack and slightest opening is filled with a sandy silt from the winter. Joys of living in the north. Also why most vehicles over 10 years old up here are missing the rocker panels from rust.

I grew up in Michigan, I remember seeing chevy Vegas with rust holes in the quarter panels that a basket ball would fit through, when they were 2 years old

Today I burned a brush pile about 30' in diameter and 10' high that I collected from around the property last year. I hope to burn one more tomorrow, then I can start over. Lots of down branches and a couple trees from our winter this year.

Home Depot hired a delivery guy to bring me 4000# of wood flooring. Dude had a sh!t attitude. Would not back into the loading area. So I said how about you just set it next to the sidewalk. He rolled the first pallet off the back of the truck and it fell 4' onto the roadway.

At that point I refused the delivery.

He spent an hour and a half hand loading 2000# of wood flooring back onto his truck.

I hope you did or are going to contact the store manager.

Nope, it was not a 'store delivery' it was a corporate delivery, product was shipped up from Georgia, commercial carrier.
You could contact them if you want to. That delivery asshole has a boss somewhere. Your choice.

🥱 I'm exhausted. I was in to the city and back home by 9:30am with full intention of heading out to the fifth wheel to steam clean the interior. Until I walked into the house and discovered that a brand new tube of toothpaste was discovered by the dogs and smeared into an area rug. One thing lead to another and by 11am, I had vacuumed the entire upstairs and steam cleaned both the carpet in the bedroom and the area rug. Then I lugged the steam cleaner down to the camper and proceeded to do the task I originally intended. Then I switched to cleaning up the attached garage and loading up for a dump run. I've already got my list for tomorrow ready which is a continuation of the typical spring stuff installing batteries in all the summer toys and taking the tarps off everything, hauling the boat out of winter storage..

I took off work to see my granddaughters 2nd grade spring sing today. It was packed! I decided to get some video of her singing so I hold my phone up in the air… after a few minutes I remember the sticker on the back of my phone :bonk:

Been working on a decorative gate, hour here tower there, finished it yesterday and installed it today. I put in 400' of 5' welded wire fencing about a month ago to move the wilderness away from my back yard and give the dog somewhere to go without being supervised. You can't see it in the picture, but right out of the frame is a shed. Later I think I will go back and fabricate some ornimental iron fencing to go from the gate to the shed to dress it up some. Its done for now and useable. I was a little disappointed when I finished and lt the little boy out off leash. I figured he would have bolted, figuring he was loose, nope walked over about 10' from me and laid down and went to sleep. Go figure.

Well isn't that just ironic. Your gate looks great. I built one this week as well out of wood. We have 3 decks covering the entire western side of the house. The one off the kitchen has a metal gate so we can let the dogs out there. The deck off our bedroom didn't have one so I whipped something together out of 2x4s. Not fancy but it does the trick. I still have to stain i

I was short a treated 2x4 but had an untreated one leftover. Stain will protect it. I didn't feel like another trip to the city for a 2x4. Use what I got. Lol.

I called a local tire shop this morning for new tires for the camper. They said bring it on down. That's what I'm doing this morning then home to finish packing and head out to our seasonal camp for the night. Let the shenanigans begin.

I invited a lady to come to a Kiwanis meeting and give a presentation on human trafficking. She did, was fantastic and had a lot of good information. I tried to give her money for gas because it was about 100 miles round trip and she wouldn't take any because she was doing this to help communities....she's a school teacher and owns a couple of businesses so she doesn't need any money. I asked if she would come back if the police chief would want her to speak to his officers and maybe the mayor if he wanted to arranged a meeting for his staff. She said she would be glad to so I went to the police station and gave them her information and I talked to the mayor for about ten minutes after a city council meeting a little while ago and gave him her business card. I asked him about a meeting with her for businesses in town and suggested the Chamber of Commerce.....I will go there tomorrow. It was a great day!

crazy busy here

Melen moves into the new condominium, whether it is ready for her or not. And it won't be. But the floor is going down very quickly!

Dasha is home, and so is Kobe. So lots of extra footsteps in the house. Dasha was trying on dresses for the Senior Dance, which is a pre-graduation tradition. She is only a junior but going because she is friends with several Seniors.

23 years ago, the growing city of Wentzville Mo. decided to flex it's power on local businesses. First the made me put ina$2,000 backflow valve that I have to have certified annually or they revoke my license. They then forced me to build a fence around the bulk trash container after which they decided my outside storage of trucks and trailers needed to be fenced as well.

Keep in mind Wentzville was a small agricultural town of some 3500 souls, none of whom had to install these things in the private residential properties. However, me, well out of sight in an industrial park well off the Highway out of town, did.

Business cannot vote. Only residents do.

What was I storing there? Two boats on trailers with legal roadworthy license plates. Sitting on a paved, marked, parking lot.

Sorry about the bitching.
To the task at hand...;

Built with screws, not nails, disassembly will be relatively easy but time consuming.

Today I started to take these structures down. 23 years later they are old worn out pine fences some 8 feet high.

I will end up with about 80 1X6 weathered pine that would make a great decor if I wanted a western look to my home's interior.
I do not.

So, they will be cut up for firewood.

It will take several days to complete and clean the area of leaves and debris. We should never have been required to build these things in the first place.
