prayres

DZ im so pleased to read things are slowly getting better......my prayers are still on-going for a speedy recovery and i would like to say a big Thanks to your wife for doing a great job taking care of you...the carers sometimes get forgotten.....

THANK YOU MRS DZ:thumb:

Hey DZ! I am very sorry for taking so long to drop a line. I'm sorry you had this accident happen to you. I'll echo the others who have said how much more than other injuries, burns are.
My wish is for you a steady recovery, patience with yourself during the slow healing process, and, please, use your head, don't try to do stuff that the docs say not to do, and do the things they tell you to do......no matter how painful and difficult.
Prayers for you on your recovery. Give your wife a peck on the cheek for looking after you and posting your progress to us.
Monte a/k/a Trakternut.

Again, just wanted to say thank you:D

Just got back from the hospital yesterday, looks like skin grafts (sp?) will not be needed, and all the doctors are very pleased with the results.

Someone asked here what we did during Labor day. For myself, did about 3,000 "finger touches" to work the hand and joints.

Starting to get a little stir crazy around the house now. Will be taking my dad out tomorrow to meet some of the people who I work with, so looking forward to that. Then back to work on Monday.

Again, feel very blessed for the fact that two Fridays ago, when at the emergency room, the doctors told me that I'd probably be spending at least 13 days in the hospital before I would even get out.

For those of you who were interested in the material I had to use, a couple of pics

1. is of the glove I had to wear. Because the material when "layed" on the skin "hardens" like a cast, the doctors wanted me to wear the glove so I would work my hand so it wouldn't become to "stiff". This glove would come right off the hand with nothing protecting the hand except the glove itself.

2. is of the material that was out on my arm (also used on my leg as well). The material was left on the arm for seven days without removing it until I went back into the hospital. Again, some mis communication because the doctor then told me that I should of taken it off evey night and replaced it with new material. Needless to say, not what I was told at the hospital, but since everything is coming along "fine", no complaints on my end.

3. The hand itself.

Was out this morning with the High Power just to see how the grip was, and although a little tight, no big surprises as far as not being able to handle the gun, which I sincerely thought might of become a problem with the hand.

All the pics were taken 7-9 days directly after the accident. Oh, was also lucky enought that my wife only had to post for me that one time when I mentioned it. Turned out that typing was good excercise for the fingers and joints for the bad hand.

So, hopefully to make some lemonade out of some lemons, no more rushing any brush fires (per my wife, no more gas, period), and best of all, in 8 years, this is about the longest I've ever gone without a dip, 13 days straight. Hope to get rid of that habit now:punk:

Was funny the other day though. Father in law told me he found a bee hive out in the oak tree in front of the driveway. At the dinner table that night, I told everyone I'd go get some gas and take care of that bee hive tonight. Funny expression on their faces:D

Atta boy DZ! I'm glad to see you are doing well and keeping your sense of humor!

I was just a little bit hoping you might get one of those butt skin transplants on your head so we could have some fun with that but since this is the seriously speaking area, I'll refrain! ;)

Honestly, I think you've handled this very well and I can only hope I would be able to do as well as you in the same circumstances. :thumb:

Glad to hear your recovery is quicker than anticipated. Your comment about the bee hive reminds me of something I would say.

Wow DZ! you have been thru a lot! It looks painful. I had a radiator blow up on me years ago and certain burn parts were 2nd and 3d degree burns. They were painful when messed with. I was a single parent at the time and had to continue working as a Barber Stylist. (hands were ok) My boyfriend at the time (redneck) wrapped the burns over and over, and changed them everynight, but still hair was lodged and caused an infection. What ever you do...keep them sanitary. it hurts like a SOB to be scraped. :censored:

Hey DZ!! That hand is lookin' really good! The new skin is as purdy a shade of pink as ya could ever hope for. That other stuff will slough off in time. Glad you're making use of those fingers for a good cause (FF). Continued bes wishes for a full recovery.
*Now, where'd I leave that gas can and that Bic?*

I have only just heard about your injuries and am very glad to hear that you are recovering. Take care of yourself and don't try to do too much too soon, but keep it all moving - possibly one of those 'stress' balls that you squeeze for your hand?

Glad you'r doin' better. Back at work, be careful & don't get er dirty or messed up worse.

OH YEA, & thanks for keeping us up-to-date!

One thing for certain, no brush fires!:D

Heck, just starting to get the Blue Cross Blue Shield medical bills in. All are paid in full (which I know for certain won't always be the case) so far, but I can't make heads or tails as to what I'm being billed for :confused2:

That's going to be another thread:whistling:

Can you give us an update? How are your wounds?

Going good.

Went to PT his week and they were impressed with my leg movment. Hand and arm is coming along and go in for that next week. Working half to 3/4 days now at work. Taking some naps late afternoons. Hot soaking baths at night. Like I said, I was realy blessed. Originally they gave me 11-14 days in, and I was out in 6 and no compalints.

Put on a long sleave shirt with long pants and I'm going out to mow right now (long pants and shirts to protect the burn areas from the sun, they've been applied with sunscreen as well).

I don't know what they we're thinking about the pain medication though. 1.5 pills and it seems like old times, flying like a kite. Jeez, they gave me over 200 pills to boot and I still got half a bottle left. May end up selling them:D (OF COURSE, I'M JOKING!)

Sounds good Joe. Glad to hear you are doing so good. You were lucky indeed.

You were lucky indeed.

My wife has some REAL "interesting" family living, ironically, in N.C.near us.

I'm just glad that her (my wifes) parents are what I'd call "normal", and we can have her parents, as well as my father under our roof for a couple of weeks (to help my wife take care of me while she works), and everyone gets along well, and we all actually have a good time with each others company:thumb:

Actually told my wife last night that I missed her mother already since we drove them (in laws) to Charlotte yesterday afternoon, to fly home.

Now that's what I'd consider lucky!:D

You are very lucky, not many people can say they even like there in laws, but to actually miss them. well thats really cool, glad to hear you are feeling better

keep up the good recovery DZ....ffs dont over do it and thanks for the update.

God really gave you a lucky break as well as a stiff lesson.....take care and respect to your family for putting up with you:thumb:

As I said, I was blessed:thumb:

On top of that, no tins of Copenhagen or Kodiak since the accident. Perhaps something good will come of this:tongue:
