I needed wheel 1/2's.

My go to wheel provider is hay wheel. Ks i think.

I spent some time on the phone with them. Followed up some leads.... that yielded some cart wheels from denmark , but no wheel shells.

Master st4 rebuilder posted a link to some cart wheels here in the USA and well $40 later im tooling my 50hr machines up to see what a blind sqwrl can do.

I have enough material to make about 180 of these, but I don't think I'll need more than two or three dozen.

I'm getting these heat-treated, just like the flanges that I made. I have a lot of rollers to replace and I've run out of bolts to recycle........ so it's time to make new ones.

I love my job.

after chatting I promptly went home and started piling up the axles.. I have a coffee can full. I need a pile of 1"

so I spent most of my day looking for cages, I actually found some sources today. Pay is only part of the job.

I've got cages all over the place..... at work, my basement, my truck... scattered all over Antrim County. Someday I should gather them all up and put them in a single coffee can.

I'll never use them......... you've seen my roller design.

HEY,..... look what I found at work!!!

..... Shall I make a few of these?

(1/2-20 thread......... do these fit your Kitten?)

There is need for 3/4 rollers for sure.
..... How many 3/4 flanges did I give you? I remember that there were more than I remembered making. 18 or so?

It will be a while until I really get into gear making these axles, I'm starting with six samples to send to heat-treat. They're gonna grow about +.005, so i'm cutting the threads and races a little undersize. When they come back, I need to ensure that all my numbes are good and then I can get busy....... then I will make a huge batch of 1" and some 3/4" axles. I still have two hardened 3/4 flanges in a drawer at work, so I have a pattern to go by for checking fit and function.

..... Have you seen my latest Halloween costume?

It was a coffee can . Ill get to counting. I wish i could get with the extrovert side of my existance more. I kind of like to hide so maybe costumes and sno (wheeled) mobiles could work.

That was December 2022, coming down off the Mackinaw Bridge in St. Ignace. We do it every year. I'll be there again, this year..... no costume, but I'll be riding my 1979 Chrysler Sno Runner this time.

(I don't recommend putting wheels on a Chrysler Sno Runner....... that was a horrible project).

That scoots better than i thought. I have a motor seat and controls for one of those.
oooOOOOOOOooooooooooo................. I have one in the basement with a bad crankshaft.

......... Negotiations in the future?

What size wheels go on that Aktiv? Have you contacted snowtrac.com to see if they utilize any tires/sheaves that match original equipment? (That might be expensive if they agree to sell you parts, methinks).

Its a two pc 4x3 wide wheel.

They are around. But, like everything they are thin for lawn cutting duties. Follow rollers ect. The aktiv wheels were heavier and had a couple extra forms along the bead area where the wheel might contact the wheel guide of the track. Some folks put a hard rubber tire in place of the very light pneumatic tire, but im interested in light and nimble

The new snowtrac is a bit of a novelty in my opinion. The price point appears good. Im waiting for the market to reveal wether or not they work well enough. The originals have been performing well going on 60 years

My first "experimental" batch of roller axles went out to heat-treat today!!!

When I get them back (in a few days) I should know exactly how they fit... and will begin making lots more.

I can't wait....... I really need these. (I'm going to have to start making flanges again, soon..... as well).
