It wasn't easy but forum8fox and his brother were able to get the bombikee up to Vail pass and to the top of shrine pass for the group shot. They even spent the night. I bet the bombikee is more capable than any sno-track but since we can't get any to come up we will never know.

Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who came out and everyone that made this happen. What a great time! Also special thanks to John for helping bring my friends out and back, you were a savior. I also want to thank everyone who was psyched to finally see our project out in the wild, it really helped justify all that has gone into it. Oh and finally getting to camp in it was awesome!

I don't post much here, mostly read and look at pictures, but I came out to VP on Saturday; I see MikeM pretty much every weekend skiing, I've thought about cats in the past, I've gone back and forth, and the hour I spent Saturday watching was REALLY helpful.

I'm terrible with names, but thanks for putting up with my questions (if you have to think about it, I probably did not corner you:). That was fun - I wish I'd stayed later to see the Snowtrac, but alas, was long gone by then.

I certainly got WAY more than I bargained for, though, I figured I'd see some interesting snowcats, but did not expect to see them being pushed in deep snow; that's always been my dilemma - snowmobiles or snowcat? I use snowmobiles for skiing, but a cat is interesting.

I'm not in the turbo-hydrostatic market, but I could put together a pretty nifty Tucker or Thiokol or whatever - but I was never sure what to get. I've asked anyone with experience what they think about the cat/s they might have experience with & deep snow capabilities, and I've gotten a LOT of different answers.

All of them were good answers, but it is maybe like asking two people what the weather was like in Fargo last weekend.

The Canadian might say it was nice, the Floridian would likely say it was freezing.

Exaggeration, but you get the idea, perspective.

Anyway, I spent the morning breaking trails on my snowmobile, then skiing, then an hour or so in the afternoon watching all of you in the cats, in the same conditions I'd spent the morning in - the relative perspective of "deep" was not an issue.

Priceless, really. That was really, really enlightening.

Entertaining, too. That was fun.

I hope everyone made it back/makes it back ok, thanks again for answering twenty(ish) questions!

Iain

It doesn't appear the Jersey boys are going to leave . . . New toy, big (HUGE) snow, why go home?

Hopefully the Jersey boys and their tucker make it home, the bus had some trouble. I can only imagine how horrible it could be, but I have faith the colorado cat crew will look after them.

Here is one of the Frandee with the ski down, used it on the groomed trail in, worked well. Folded it up on the cab once we got in the deep snow and where we wanted to manuver sharper, plus spin cookies/donuts.

Coolest feature I saw on any of the cats was the mini bar on the ceiling of the Rat Rod Muther Tucker.
