You know you like your cats too much when...

SOCAL,
I have heard two diffrent stories related to the winches seen on the Imps. First I heard they were all factory installed Option. The second story is that thye were put on by various power companies. I tend to believe Thiokol installed them. I can tell you though that they are extremely heavy duty! The cable or wire rope looks to be 3/4"!

can any of the IMP owners out there confirm this? who manufactured them, and the pull capacity? what type of tranny are they running? and where does the PTO (if they are) attach to for power?

id like to put a winch on my 4T eventually. was thinking of a 10,000 pound warn on a removable receiver assembly so it can be used on the front or back.

Mine had one that was removed prior to my purchase. I see no PTO equipment on my machine, but there is a power wire still there which indicates that it was electric.

I have a Warn 9,000 lbs winch on my Super Imp with a hitch mounted cradle for it. I can tell you it really pulls out stuck snowmobiles! Now if I can only get my cat stuck to see how the winch does for the cat. So far no luck getting stuck!

Liar!! SnoOps had to hook his winch to my KT-3 so I could pull out his Imp from some deep stuff (where only Kristis dare to tread). I have proof, pictures and video!!!! :yum: Searching now...

BOBP. Are you feeling OK? When was the last time you were drug tested? I know it must have been all those exhaust fumes you were inhailing when we were riding in your Krusti!

As to my old Imp winch, it was on the cat before I got the cat. I just don't recall much about the Imp winch but I do believe it was a Braden and very heavy duty. It worked. I would guess it was at least 8,000 lb or more. Electric is the way to go if you are adding a winch to a cat.

The newer 80's Thiokol, DMC and LMC used Braden as OEM equipment for most accessory winch applications. My 89 LMC is a model EU8A electric 8,000 lb winch factory installed.
