Worst day yet!

Was going to get in the pool and the deck is so hot it felt like walking on a griddle.:clap:

I'm in the same position. I just had the pool replastered. After 2 weeks of brushing and vacuuming, it looks beautiful. Now I can't get in the SOB because I can't walk barefoot across the deck to get to it. It does look pretty on Google Earth though. :yum::yum::yum:

Normally in the middle of the corn belt a day like today would have gotten to 80% humidty or more, as the crops would be pumping it up out of the ground to grow. But the last several days we are loosing the battle as the humidity has fallen all week and is below 50%...cause we are fast running out of water....and time.

It's going to get really intersting. You heard it first right here.....

Regards, Kirk

I would really hate to be a corn stalk in IOWA today.

Without rain next week we could be seeing a total crop of 30% OR LESS in the heart of the corn belt. No one is talking about what happens if.....

franc we all are going to see some history unfold this year. I have a gut feeling and it isn't good. Took a dozer down to 7' deep and the yellow clay is powder day here from the black surface soil on down for 7'. I have never seen the yellow clay this dry in my life time. That was three weeks ago. We simply do not have the 10" of in the sub soil water we relie on for Jully and August. This could get biblical before it's over.

When I built my brotherin-law's Indianola IA horse barn, we put hloes only five feet into the New Mexican silt. Hit that yellow clay. It was like hitting a rubber tire. Wouldn' take a shovel or water.

Holes filled with ground water within hours.

Most shallow wells in the area are no more than 6 to 12 feet deep suggesting a few homesteads are frequently running the pickup tanker to the local Co-Op.

Bad news for you guys. And the nation.

Politicians would have you believe the gretDepression ws theresult of Republicans and or the big banks. Actually, it was because of the great drought which toppled fortunes being bet on theWheat farms in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Seems we had a heat spell and years of severe drought.

They called it a dust bowl. This, years before SUV's and air conditioners poisoned the air with CO2:whistling:

We may see it again.

We got to 96 before the last front pushed through.
Now sitting at 74 but not much rain right here. You could see it pouring just south of the Pa. border and it dropped a lot of rain on Addison and Corning from both waves of storms. At least the cooler temps will help plants and fields.

Back up to 77 but much better than earlier. Wish we would get more rain but it don't look like it on the radar.

It hit 100 here earlier . 90 now, but it sure doesn't seem any more comfortable  had a couple of storms pass by , but didn't get any rain , just clouds and thunder. I feel bad for the farmers and others that rely on the weather to make their living .

i'm peeling my shirts from myself to change again. it stormed, we (i) made it here just beyond thunderstorming, then the sun re-appeared & it went over. blake kept sayin', 'it's not gonna storm.' Sweet Jesus~ a female's instinct'll overrun a guy's almost daily. i kept saying that i can tell by various conditions that nature was on its way. he kept sayin' 'it's not gonna storm!'. wanna know who won that one~

It had cooled to 74 , then warmed up to 83 and muggy as hell. Now we had some rain and it dropped back to 75. Better than 80's and 90's.

The real temp here today hit 105.
Can't wait until the 80s/60s relief comes on Monday.. but it's not going to last long.
Currently 87F and humid as hell out there.
It doesn't pay to do ones hair and makeup in weather like this.
A mere walk across a parking lot dissolves it all.
Flattened hair and a melted face.
'course, men don't have to worry about that shit.

Well, it's 11:45 pm and it just dropped below 80. It was kind of cloudy today and the temp only got to the low to mid 90's. Spent the afternoon mowing the 6 acre lot for the local library. Life is good when you're sitting in an air conditioned cab.:clap:

We're supposed to get rain for the next 3 or 4 days with temps in the low 90's. We'll see.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. You should see Bill without his makeup

BZZT :yum::yum::yum:

Ah crap, speaking of that. Just took a look at the weather, and the probability for the rain and storms today has decreased. We need some damn rain! :glare:

It does not look good for rain around here unless something pops up off the lakes. At least the wind has settled down. We will be watering again tonight. By the way I have a lot more teeth than the guy in that pic!:whistling::yum::yum:

The heat has broken it's grip here. North wind and it's only 76deg this AM...High in the mid 80's today and most of the week. Warming at weeks end to the low 90's.

No rain in the forcast as far out as they go...:ermm:

Regards, Kirk

Well the temps are better but the humidity is still bad. Worked out in the garden and spread some mulch and the sun was hot as heck. Need a break before hitting it again. We are at 81 and it sure beats 91.

Bout mid-high 80s here now, I just got done transplanting some peppers into pots. Have some green/red bell and a couple Jalapeno plants going. The temps are fine with me, but yeah, the humidity sucks.
