What are you doing today, II

Brought home a load of Handi Stone. 8" X 8"X 4" concrete blocks that build easy retaining walls. The last 50 I could find anywhere.
One of the first retaining wall blocks produced, I used to install these all over town. Now there is only one place that makes them somewhere in Wisconsin.

Great for edging gardens and yet one can build a retaining wall 8 feet high.

Back in 1985 they were about $1.20 each.
Very versatile as you can see here.

Since the temperatures are hovering around the freezing point and it's a mixture of rain and snow, I backed the snowmobile trailer into the shop yesterday so I can get to work installing new ski tie down bars and fix the lights. Only the right lights are working now. As soon as I drag my butt out of the hot tub, that's the plan for today.

That’s where I used to quail hunt.
The whole Yakima valley is out of place in the region. I was up there last summer and it was as hot as here in Ca. with cold and snowing in the winter. I figured out why. The elevation is near sea level, then add in all the water and no wind. Makes it Hot and humid there in late summer. Likely be headed back up there soon.

I've got the snowmobile loaded up and ready to hit the road in the morning headed 100km west to do so trail work and packing. We're aiming to cover as much of the A trail portion in red. We've gone over it once already packing. Now we're going back to cut out some trees.

They call it The Palm Springs of Washington. It makes for good fruit and wine.

Yes there seems to be plenty of agriculture there. I manufacture and install conveyors and food processing equipment. Thats why I go there. The whole area is somewhat arid except for that valley. Nice scenic ride12 hour ride up there for me.

Going thru pallet after pallet of stuff stored, we don't need.

Several pallets of building materials, fixtures, plumbing, toilets, bathtubs, floor tiles, and overruns from remodeling projects on my house for the last 40 years.
Add to that the doors and windows bought because they were on "clearance" or planned for a project that was had a design change by the boss.

So today, I did some paperwork and preparations for the next storm that is getting here now and will go on and off for another week before any meaningful break in the weather. We need it so I'm just riding it out.

Grocery run slightly interrupted by a call that number 1 Grandbug was in hospital having her gallbladder yanked.
She's doing well.
Future RN tried to tell me it was merely a tummy upset.
Maybe she'll listen to her Grandma from now on.
😘

Getting started on my man cave. Or should I say my mini mancave.

The room is only 10 feet x 10 feet with one 4x4 corner lost to the Tome wall system. We no longer use it so that cooling tunnel is for storage. It will be tiny compared to your average basement rathskeller bar. But as it connects to the main library via a 64" arched doorway, it will suffice.
Add a wet sink, glass shelving, a bistro table and chair, some bar stools and small frig, the bar is complete.
The library has a built in TV so, all the elements are there.

This project has been on hold for over 20 years.
I get started clearing all the old junk out on Saturday. Whoopie!

Made a dump run only to get turned around because there power was off. When I got home, mine is off too and now I am on the generator again.

Fencing tournament this weekend. Pretty much like every weekend, but I have tomorrow as an 'off' day! Between the high school and the college teams I coach I don't have a free weekend until late February when I get home from coaching the Junior Olympics in Denver.

On the bright side we had a great day fencing today. Undefeated today in the team event versus 5 schools.

My boys Saber squad is #1 in the high school conference this season as we go into the championship round a couple weekends from now. We have an undefeated team record for the entire season. My girls squad is either 1st or second??? I'll need to see the rest of the conference results, the girls have only lost 1 match up this season and that was early in this season.

Best part of today was that one of the teams we faced was our closest rival and we beat them in a perfect 18 bouts to 0. Girls won 9-0 and Boys won 9-0. But the school I was most worried about in today's competition was Culver Military Academy and both boys & girls squads both defeated them, even if just barely.

😂🤣😂🤣😂
So my wife's on her way to emerge with our second oldest son for stitches. He literally just walked in the door from working all day, bent down to greet our 4 month old puppy when she playfully nipped up at his nose and tore open the flap of skin between the two nostrils.

He thought it was hilarious . Told him that he can brag to his buddies at school saying, "You shoulda seen the other guy".

I haven't been doing a whole lot lately except for picking up random shifts at work and keeping to myself mostly because the politics drive me nuts.
I did make a delicious curry soup tonight though.
It's healthy and super easy.
Coconut milk base and lentils.
Nooo, I'm not going vegan again.
🤣

Lentil curry sounds interesting.

Lentils are supposed to be a super food that is high in protein but I just haven't found them to be a good substitute for animal based proteins. I tried lentil sloppy joes recently and they were OK, but they were better when I made the recipe and did 1/2 hamburger and 1/2 lentils.

Here's the recipe.
It's fabulous and simple.
You can serve with naan or pita.
I used pita.

Whatever I do today will be in the rain, starting with horse chores. Today is the last of the heavy rain/snow for a while. Tomorrow we can dry out and start getting back to normal.

Heavy showers here last night. We started a corn delivery today. The drive ways around the grain bins is taking a beating.
It sure does look like the frost is out here.
Going to have to buy some more 2" rock to patch things up when we are done.

After the rain this year, I have been thinking of rocking my Cushman roads around the property. I have pulled my cushion truck out so many times this week with the 4x4, I just parked it and started using the 4x4.
