Virus problems have computer isolated.

I'm at the same spot lobo and it doesn't look like it'll get the replacement files off the OEM OS CD.

My current concern is that somehow, this virus will get into my backup drive (an external 1T drive that's got all my backups) and find it's way into there and then corrupt everything.

I may go back to factory format first, then overlay the restore (if that can be done).

I hope it works. I was using a flash drive to load files onto the affected computer and scanning it if I had to hook back up to my main one. I didn't catch anything passing, but I wiped it on every hook up.

Bump.

Well, I restored mine to factory settings (Dell initial load) and it works fine. A couple minutes to re-establish networking and e-mail.

I then went to restore from the external drive. Opened up the directory for my son's computer and... it was empty. Oh well (for him). No biggy really as he uses it for play and school work, but all the school work is forwarded to my computer so there's nothing lost there.
