Trapped by a land slide !!

Gone But Not Forgotten
One road into our little town and a big chuck of the mountain came down at 1 AM this morning and buried the road . Lost power too . They are telling us it will be Wedensday before we can get out . I went down to the only gas stop and filled up the truck and 10 gallons of fuel cans for the generator .
Guess I never really thought about it before but that one road is our lifeline to the outside world .We will be fine even if we were trapped for months/years as we have all we need here on the ranch .

Not too many can say that they'll be fine if they're cut off from the outside world for more than a few days, Al. Good for you that you're prepared with food and generators.
In town, here, people don't keep more than a couple days of food in the house. I don't think they can fix supper without a stop at the supermarket on the way home from work. Give a forecast with a blizzard in it and the stores get plundered!
Keep us posted on your life without civilization!

Well they got the power back on . I heard the power linemen just cut the busted bottoms off the power poles and reused them . Road crews were trying to get a lane open last night , but I do not know if they were able too . It's still raining here.

What's your escape route if there was a huge forest fire blocking the main road and heading to your place? Always have a way out. ;)

With 12" of snow on the ground I kinda doubt we will have a forest fire . We have some back roads outta here but they are closed by snow until June .
