While out on my second trip this season, I had some issues with fuel. I was with my son and his girlfriend. We were about two mile out when the cat died.
she started up again but as soon as the clutch was released, She would die. Popped the hood (cowl) and took a peak inside. I have a glass full filter and it had very little fuel in it. Figured the pump filter was clogged therefor the pump was unable to push the fuel through. We tried unhooking the fuel line on the tank side of the pump and had plenty of fuel there. I tried to fill a water bottle with fuel siphoned from the tank. With a hole in the cap, I tried to squirt fuel into the carb and nurse the cat back to the truck. I did this once before and it was very tricky, this time even more so. After some thought, I came up with this solution. It worked flawless. Only had to fill the bottle three times! Now that I am back, and a little sleuthing showed the fuel pump was bad. I figure a hole in the diaphragm. I got it replaced and the glass filter filled up instantly! Now if I can only get the trailer sorted!
Thank you dad.... Without him teaching me things throughout life, I'd be walking out!
my son was driving while I was being the fuel tank. Trying to pass along some nuggets to him....
