SnoCat'n up The Salcha

Allright, here's the skinny. I have been traveling the Salcha River by boat and snowmachine to our cabin and now cabin'S for over 25 years. This Snocat thing started years ago when a friend aquired a Haagllund. Then an old couple Dick and Kati, who live up there year round finally got there Snotrack up and running. And then Jimmy, my next door neighbor springs this 1404 he just finished restoring on me this last fall. All the while i'm wanting a snocat every time i see one. Telling myself, I GOTTA HAVE ME ONE OF THOSE! Now the last four years Mary and I have been building our winter home up there. It's been alot of fun. Now Mary, I taught her how to ride snowmachines. I have been riding them for 48 years now. She has only been riding, I think this is her 4th winter. Well she finally tipped over and broke her arm. Now you may see where this is going. Jimmy finally shows up to his cabin next door while i'm falling some dead trees in the yard while Mary is in town recouperating. You guessed it in his Imp. The broken arm and -20 and -30 below temps now and then on snogo's, well I think it's time. So After all that I have my own 1404. Bout Time! Thanks to Bill @ snowtrans, Boogie @ Mn Outdoors, Jim @ peterson, and all you here on the Forum and Mike in SLC who I bought mine from, I'm SnoCat'n. I will post pics of our adventures up the Salcha River. We all like Picture's. Here is the begining.

the feaver will get worse and you will want more or you are going to want to one up weatherby on a restoration you know you have it bad when you start kidding with Big Al about krustys

Oh yeah, I'm sick and getting sicker. Mary keeps catching me looking at other machines. She says, "your allready whorein around our rig" Typical guy thing. Suppose she's right. Oh well, thats what guys do I tell her. (I have to resize pics. I'll work on them tonight)

Seems to me that Krusty jokes are a sign of GOOD health. As is wanting another Snowcat. I can stop at two. Just two. No more'n two. Ever. I promise! Really... :w00t2:

Nice, is it for forsale? trade you a couple of snowcats ;) you can build another.
Thanks, she's not forsale. Only a couple of those ol nasty snocat things!:yum: That is a once in a lifetime project. Nope! I'll never do that again. It was easier than a person thinks though. A little self motivation goes along ways. And knowing how to handle 60 hog logs without gettin run over.

that's a nice looking cabin the one thing i muss out here in western alaska is having the trees to build something like that with you have to buy lumber up here to build with

I just got back home from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah. Loaded my new Cat up in Salt Lake. Hauled it to Tacoma, loaded it up on the barge, and it got here today. I caught a glimps of a Bombardiar in Lima Montana while fueling up. Nobody was around to talk to about it. Whew, over 7500 miles traveled? Something like that. I know, I'm a sick, sick man. But not alone. :bonk:

Great time of year for travelling and congrats on having your Imp home. I'll bet you can't wait for snow !

I have to ask > why you shipped it rather than trailering ?

Hows that imp treating you on the fly shifting ?

It was easier and the cost less. No wear and tear on my truck and fuel prices made shipping it better.

Glad you got back in tack an like your new snowcat
Right after you picked it up someone stole that flatbed fifth wheel trailer parked
to the north of your cat
Good luck and enjoy
