Gone But Not Forgotten
B_Skurka said:I've not checked what the ground pressure is on the new tracked farm tractors, but I know that soil compaction is among the biggest problems that farmers face and they tend to be very concerned about creating paths of compaction through their fields. I suspect that more and more agricultural equipment will convert to tracks of some sort,
Bob,
I have known compaction to be critical. When I worked for my dad thirty some years ago in his fertilizer plant he bought one of the floater trucks. The air pressure in them tires were only about 5 psi. It took over an hour to fill on and you could only drive about 35 miles an hour on the road as it started to get away from you.
As far as other implements, I saw a big combine for harvesting wheat that had the conversion tracks on it. That was both front and back. So your right we will more and more implements with the tracks.
