Police Interceptor - 2003 - PLEASE BUY

Deadly Sushi

The One, The Only, Sushi
Well since I cant off-load my Camry I have to sell my beautiful Crown Vic :(

Im selling it at $100 over what I put into it. Its in excellent shape and drives like it has 50,000 miles not 150,000. There is nothing wrong with it. In fact I spent hours detailing the interior last weekend and had it buffed and waxed. It has many new sensor and parts too. It was more preventative maintenance than they actually needed replacing. The suspension is fantastic, the engine and trans are both great. It has been Sea Foamed, new good oil and filter, Radiator flushed, New Trans fluid (dropped pan.... it wasnt flushed), new door trim. Basically the thing looks nearly new. Interior looks good (minus a few drill holes) and almost every light outside AND inside (including cluster) has less than 50 hours on them. I need to sell this FAST. Sushi has bills to pay. :ermm:

Im selling it here for $2800

Here is my Craigslist advert: http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/car/696765023.html

Sushi, Sushi... I can smell blood and could buy if from you for a lot less... No wonder you are always depressed about the bills...

You never sell something and act like you "Need" to sell it. Find out what the high Blue Book is on the car, print it out and ask about mid range for it which is about double what you are asking, let the "buyer" beat you down a few hundred dollars (which is still over a thousand more than you want) and make them feel like they got a good deal from you.

When you sell it for what you really need to get from it, a buy can sense that and will offer you a lot less than that....

Act as if you don't need to sell it and people will piss their pants to buy it from you. If a guy offers you too little, then tell him your sorry he can't afford it and he will trip over himself to prove that he can and buy it for what you are asking.

Sales, I thought you were in that field....:pat:

Im not going lower than $2800. Period. But I figure that you folks are like family so it doesnt matter HOW I posted it. Its the darn truth. Either way Im not going to take a loss on it. The car is worth $1000 more.

Now that we got THAT out the way..... BUY IT!

"IF" it is worth a $1,000.00 more, then mark it up that plus add $500.00 more and let someone talk you down the "bait" $500.00, so you make money on your effort.... "And" they got a good deal because they beat you out of $500.00...so they think, and you sold the car for $3,800.00.

Go to http://www.nadaguides.com/usedcars.aspx?LI=1-28-0-5000-565-557-50181&l=1&w=21&p=0&f=5002

Enter your information on the used car link and find out what your car is valued at. There is a high for new condition and low for "Rough", your car is somewhere in between, there is a good chance that you may be giving your car away, or got taken for a ride in what you paid for it... I am betting you are asking way too little for it. When you ask too little, everyone figures that something is really wrong with it.

Print that out, tape it to the inside window of your car with a for sale sign next to it with the price you are asking on it. That way people can see what the book value is and what you are asking, you may be very surprised how well that works, since you got such a "Smoking" good deal!

The high book is about $8,700.00 to the low of $4,065.00 with 150,000 mile on it. So you want to give your jewel away for $2,800.00... Really?:yuk:

By the discription of what you discribed the car, it is worth around five thousand dollars give or take a few...

I think you are underselling yourself and people can tell. Buck up, act like you don't need the money, and sell it for a profit... and keep the change!:respect:

Have you "upped" the price yet? Make it sound like it is worth something so people will be interested in looking at it...

Im not getting ANY replies. What the hell!?!?
Alright.... someone from here buy it. Come on!
I think there are a good amount of folks that are actually selling their V8's

sorry - it doesn't have 4 wheel drive or a bed and gets worse mileage than the wife's tribute (also an on-demand AWD). On the other hand, I did talk to a friend who has been looking for something more reliable than his suburban, but he doesn't have that much spare right now. Sorry, I tried.

Better riding a vicky or a kristi than riding a john (deere) like you strange boys do in NE Ks!

Well what do you expect?

People will look it up on the Nada site like I told you and see it is half the price of a "Good" car and rightly think it is junk...

What kind of Idiot wants to buy someone elses junk?

Up the price so people will "assume" that it is worth looking at...

If someone tried to sell me a $6,000.00 car for $2,800.00, I would assume that it is junk... is it? I really doubt it is by the way you discribe it, but you are selling it as if it was junk.... Like I said, you can smell the kill when the animal is limping....

A story I heard,..........A family pet had puppies, come time to get rid of them they put an ad in the paper.."free puppies, real cute". NO CALLS. A week later ran another ad- "5 ugly puppies & 1 cute one for sale, $50.00 each." In about 3 days, they were all sold, for $50.00 each.

People will pay when they think they are getting a good deal. They will NOT buy when they think they are getting junk.

Sushi, what others have said about raising the price is true. I use to buy and sell tractors all the time. I would do a little work on one and put it out for sale. There were times when I got one cheap, spruced it up a little, marked up the price and it wouldn't get any attention. Same tractor, marked up $500 to $1000 and people are beating your door down. I guess people were thinking that there must be something wrong with it if it is too cheap. Mark it up to what it is worth and try selling it. Have you ever played poker? Know how to bluff? The best bluff is when you actually have something. If the car is worth $$$, then sell it for that.

Sushi listen to all the advice given as it is all so true....the car is clearly worth more and one major reason no-one is showing interest is the fact the price is way to low....if i was car hunting i too would not even look at it as the low price screams out"I HAVE PROBLEMS".

Up the price to $4000 and watch the calls come in.

Good luck m8

Kimi.

Hmmmmm..... I upped the price to $3200
Lets see what happens

Still too low, it still sounds like it isn't worth the look for that new of a car. Mark it up to the bluebook value and let the buyer talk you down a bit. You are playing a game of poker with your money...

Oh, and pull out the police reference stuff in the ad, that screams "This vehicle was abused", which of course it prob. was, but you don't want to push that as a selling point.

I concur, it the car is as nice as you say it is, let them come see it and judge for themselves. If they read that it is a police car, they may not give it a second thought when they see the ad.
