Pipe Smokers

Never understood added flavors, whether rolled, bowled, or cheek, but do love the smell of plain old pipe.

I had one pipe smoker back when I was in corporate management, and after "Fast Eddy" I refused to hire another one. Eddy was ALWAYS fuckin' with that pipe, and spent more time cleaning, packing, scraping, lighting, relighting and on and on, that he had the lowest production rate of my entire crew of 20 guys. He couldn't seem to work and smoke like the rest of the crew who smoked cigs or cigars. He had to plop his ass down and "enjoy a bowl" whenever the mood hit him. He was a contemplative sort of fellow without anything to contemplate on...the mind was pretty much a blank. I finally promoted him to line supervisor and he quit a month later, saying I was trying to kill him by making him work that hard.:yum::yum:

I tried a pipe over 30 years ago, but I just couldn't get into all the work that went along with having a smoke. I always enjoyed the smell, but didn't want the work.

JEV, sounds to me like he was just frigging lazy. Nothing to do with the pipe. Work pulling steel or driving s dozer. Drivinmg st 70 mph or harrowing a field. Takes about the same time to pack and light a pipe as it does a cigar. Only need to clean one once a day and I do that on my time.

No doubt Eddy was lazy. It's just that that damn pipe made him look extra lazy. Also, it seemed like everything done to the pipe was done in slow motion...like he didn't have a care in the world. Sadly, he was my poster child of pipe smokers, thus my future prohibition. I only know one other pipe smoker, and he's a vertically challenged Poli-Sci prof with a Napoleon complex. He also has an obnoxious laugh to match his bad attitude. I've not had good experiences with pipe smokers.

Have found a really good mixture I like. I use 3 oz benedictine and 1 oz coconut cream mixes and shake them up together. Gets a fantastic taste from the coco cream and the benedictine gives it breathing space. Combines flavors to produce a fruity nut taste that is unusual, but very good.

Trying out a Black Cherry blend. It has a good taste and a better aroma. Burns a little harsh, but at 3.00/oz, I kind of expected that.

I thought you pipe guys would appreciate this gem I brought back from Turkey in 1972. I actually watched the guy make it from a solid block of meerschaum. It took him a couple of hours, and he was carving like a maniac. This pipe resides in a drawer in my Kennedy machinist' tool box. I never smoked it a lot, as it was a pain in the ass to pack, light, smoke, and generally fiddle-fuck with it all the time. You never get things done when you smoke a pipe.

Ahhh...this thread reminds me I need to go out and get some fresh tobacco for a good smoke.

That is the sickest pipe I have ever seen!!!!!!!

Been smoking and collecting pipes for 19 years, sold off most of my collection last year on Ebay though, almost 100. I still have a lot of pipes and smoke one daily, still haven't completely kicked the cig habit yet. Here's the pipe forum I usually hang out on, although there are a lot of others I go to. http://www.smokersforums.co.uk/
