My SV301

Well things are not good in the east. When backing the groomer out of the shop to bring it home this morning it wouldnt turn to the left.:pat: After checking the hydraulics and everything else and finding nothing wrong. I pulled the diff cover to check the bands, this is when my world turned black to day. One of the band was a new one from bombardier ( came with all the parts I got with the machine.) The other I had rlined at a local machine shop. Now he assures me :blahblah: :blahblah: he used a lining that is ment to be in oil. But the material has turn to a slimey mess. So after talking to a lot of people ( Brian Sweeney at camoplast being one of them ) I would not use any thing but The brake lining that they sell, it just sounds like a better product to me. It is not cheap $285 for material to do one band, but if I had used it the first time my groomer would be sitting at my house and not still take up space in my shop! I think I saw a thead that someone was going to have some relined just becareful of the material that they use.

Wow, that was a bit of bad luck. Any idea what material they use at Camoplast to line those?

This shop owes you big time as I am sure that the material used was probably made for running dry brake linings and not the type used in an oil bath. Do you have another shop or brake lining supplier to verify the material with. I would pursue a warranty or refund of the cost with who ever did the reline of the brake bands. Shoddy, crappy work like this along BigAl's glass problem is a direct reflection on todays lack of some peoples business principles and ethics.....All for a fast easy quick buck....

I just noticed that I said it was $285 for the material. I was in a tail spin when I was typing last night, It is $185!:hide: But things went from bad to worse this morning I was getting ready to fax my order to camoplast when I got a phone call from my credit cartd co. asking if I was trying to purchase something from allegra medical. I was not so I had to cancel my card. By the time I got my new card # it was to late to order the parts and have them for the weekend. So with putting the groomer back to gether shot to hell,Im going to fire up the other bombardier and go riding for the weekend up north.

I did have it looked at and this does seem to be the case. I have known this shop owner for a long time. I also have not used them in along time because the last time i did I got screwed.  How does that saying go screw me once shame on you screw me twice shame on me. Lets just say I am done with him.

Got the new brake band material this afternoon.:a1: I had the pads put on my band and got it installed tonight, seems to work good, I will know better after a good test drive. I have also made a hard desision I am selling the groomer. I will sell it as is with blade and parts machine or finish the blade for a little more money.

So when is the real test drive?

And are you going to get another snowcat when this one is sold? Or are you looking at some other type of vehicle to play with next?

No more snow cats! I did this cat to groom for the local snowmobile club and this is the second year with no snow. My next project will be a wild offroad VW thing.

I was thinking more along the lines of something like this.

It is home and it steers fantastic. It is a bit of a rough ride with these big track cleats, but it is fun. We need more snow to soften the ride!!!

The machine looks great! Glad to hear the brake pads are working this time. Did you get any satisfaction from the other supplier who gave you the wrong lining or is that just a lost cause?

Looks like you have about the same amount of snow I have. More snow = more fun. But with the odd weather this year, I'll take whatever amount I can get.

It is a lost cause. The bombardier brake lining is some tuff looking stuff and it has a funny pattern to the material.

Got the grag hooked up yesterday. All the hydraulics work good and the power of this machine is unreal. The little 300 six will pull the grag when it is completely full of snow, in high gear and you hardly even know it is there!:a1:

Well The bombardier is on the market. Any one looking for a nice cat this is it. I have been through every inch of this thing. It has a 300 ford six with an auto trans. It has hydraulics in the rear for a drag and in the front for a six way blade. It also has hydraulic steering so you can drive it with one hand. You will also get the 302 parts rig with it. I am looking to get $7900.oo for it. I will post more details and pics tonight.
