My new friend

A cat walked past trying to avoid being noticed but Big Bird saw it all.

I haven't seen this cat before - or since. I wonder what else goes on out there that I never see!

Technical note on the preceding photo: I love my Panasonic TZ5 camera. Great resolution and 10x zoom. I'm indoors shooting through a window that could probably use washing then it's some 150 ft out to the peacock. Note the garden hose hanging in this photo and in the photo before it. The long zoom and auto-everything make unexpected grab shots like this possible. With most cameras I would still be fumbling with settings when the event ended. The TZ5 is pocket size so I have it on me whenever I'm outdoors at the ranch.

Ok, back to the show.

Chris, He might just be going through a molt and the tail feathers will replenish on their own. I have seen dogs get a mouthful of them. The rest of his plume looks to be in good shape. As for the cat,my bet is on the bird. They are tough cookies when frightened and if he is quiet it only because there are no others around that he can hear. They are naturally curious and will follow you around and root for bugs especially in mulched flower beds. My wife used to have a fit when they worked over a flowed bed but we never had mosquitoes or many bugs at all. They worked the manure pile for leftover grain as well. I miss watching them but not the screaming! Of course now i have macaws and other birds so it is still noisy.
