Not a lot of compensation, so not something to be excited about, but such is life for a 'club' coach.

Too many places to coach, too few fencing coaches. But I'd like to help the kids.

University of Illinois/Chicago (UIC) wants me 2+ days a week. Monday and Wednesday evenings. Upside is the kids are mostly newbies and my real strengths are beginning to intermediate level fencers. Their best fencers are still inside my area of expertise. Campus is just about an hour away from home, but literally 10 minutes, during rush hour, from my daughter's condo, so I can visit her and then be on campus in a few minutes. I told them I need a parking spot in the garage and they agreed. But they want me 2 days a WEEK and probably the best I can do is 2 days a MONTH. Pretty much every-other-Wednesday evening.

I'm committed to Purdue University as their head coach on the main campus. It is a 2-4 day a week commitment, and they respect my busy schedule. 1 to 2 evenings per week (every Tuesday, some Thursdays). 1, and occasionally 2 weekend days per week. I like the kids, been working with Purdue for almost 4 years now, the facilities are well above average, the team is among the top tier in the conference, but it's a 90 minute commute so that is really the only downside.

I'm committed to a local high school every Monday afternoon, they wanted 4 days. Honestly I could drop the high school, but I've been working with them for many years and the kids are pretty darn good. Their head coach is a source of grief to me, but many of the kids show up at my fencing club.

I'm also committed to my own fencing club. Mondays I actually go to the high school in the afternoon and then go to my club in the evening, so that makes for a double shift. Wednesday is club day, but most Wednesdays I take the evening off and stay home. Thursdays I teach classes or I give lessons at my club. On the Thursdays I'm not at my club, I am at Purdue.

Last time I checked I was retired but I swear I am busier now than I've ever been in my life.
