Its hard to say no

Looks great so far Al , thanks for sharing the pics .

I have a similiar problem I need to deal with on the old part of our foundation that is still sitting on the old stone foundation , I sure wished I had your expertise to figure out the safest way to attack it .

At least with these pics it gives me something to think about . Thanks again .

Looks like the rest of the house was well worth saving,Great to see another old home rescued from its inevitable demise, well done:clap:.

The worst part was digging enough room under the house to work and move about . If you have the clearance ,the rest is pretty easy.
If I lived closer to your place , we would get it done !

Update : Well the new foundation was installed in 8 days and turned out well .

The owner/friend decided to use her savings on the foundation to do some interior remodel work . The whole house is now completely rearranged and the old stairs have been relocated to the front Living room . A second bath was added upstairs and it now has 2 bedrooms on the second floor also .All new electric will be installed this week as well as new plumbing . The new 30 year comp roof will start being installed tomorrow after all the old shingles are torn off and new plywood sheating is applied .

The Local Bank has now approved the house for a loan so it has worked out well for the owner .

I love Idaho !!!! Total building permit cost were $40 dollars !!!!!!!

Pictures are comming soon .

I need to get ready to head down for another week .

Al, you got a big heart!

Still waiting for the photos of you feet sticking out where your stuck though!

That way I won't have to improvise!:yum:

Al, it seems the building codes in Idaho are a little looser than most places. I was amazed to see many telephone line boxes held together with tape and other things that wouldn't fly in most places.

Of course, everything seemed to be working properly and I didn't notice dead people and seriously maimed children everywhere either. ;)

Well they are tearing off the old shingles and replacing it with new sheating and a 30 comp roof . It is going slow because of the pitch . One contractor came over to give a bid, looked at the roof pitch and just left . I went up yesterday to help lay down some shngles and had forgotten how much slower it is when dealing with a steep roof . The fella is doing a excellent job .
Thank God for Boom Lifts as they make it so much safer .

I'll start the new plumbing on Monday and new sheetrock should start going up by Wed.

Feels good to have a couple days off . My old body is not use to a steady diet of work like this .

The hell with steep roofs anymore. Those days are behind me now. Used to do it a lot but I was young and invincible then. You should be keeping your feet on the ground also.:hammer:

Well , I went up on the roof to show the new boys ,how the old boys use to tear off a old wood shingle roof. I was up there about 4 1/2 hours in 95 degree sun . I thought I was going to die !!! Its been a long time since I have done that . Woke up Tuesday to a really sore body . I'll let the young boys do the roof from now on .

Stared the sheetrocking and it is a nightmare . There are places in the old place that the rooms are 2 inches out of square !!!!

They don't build them like they use to , and boy am I glad !!!:w00t2:

That is why we did not even consider buying a farm with an old house and rehab it. I still remember cutting tapered 2X4's and using bundles of shims in our old place.:hammer:

Yep , She is going to have a damn nice place when we finish .

I cannot believe how many folks stop by wanting to know who to talk too so they can where get a bid for the type of construction that is being done . I think I could work here until I die and never be done !!!

Every evening I have a drink on the front porch and I have a regular group of walkers that come by nightly too see the progress or discoveries for the day .

In a way , we all have become friends . Its a older area of town and everybody knows everybody around here .

I found a wooden ruler in a wall with a name on it . It was like the ones we had when I was a little kid . One fella informed me it belonged to a fella who is now 73 years old and still lives in town !

Another wall turned up a old Silver Cert paper dollar bill .

Found a bunch of canceled checks from 1949 in another wall
