Impulse snowcat adventures

Did that fresh shaved mullet removal take away some of your super powers?? You should easily have an additional 50 hours in that . . .

No, i got hung up picking up my laundry. My codriver did the walk around. Things got adjusted outside the allowable redsqwrl 50 hour parameters, and the brake drum rubbed the backing plate. In short order the bead of the tire, melted, tearing the tube.

I got very lucky and caught it early before the bearings failed.
My options were to:

Change tire and rebuild hub to the RSP (redsqwrlparameters)
Hubs were put together wrong and the studs spun.

Pull that axle up with a come along and get on my merry way.

Or just slip a new tube (from the spare) into that poorly assembled hub.

After it started raining i asked the professional to step aside.
Liberated the offending stud.
Put hub into 50 hr specification.
Put on the spare
That was 2000 miles ago. I think we will be ok

OK, I'll bite on this one. What exactly is securing that cat to the trailer? The last ones were chained at the springs, this one being held with a wish & prayer?
Exactly!
Gravity. My phone rang as i pulled away. Neither of us noticed that while micro celebrating and photo op-ing. That rear strap hopped off 4 more times in the 5 hr ride to the sqwrl nest

So they are all home now? Busy gathering next years load….:)
mite want to update the trailer regs your luck won’t hold up for ever…
All nuts home in the nest.

Wiso doesnt require registration below 3500# so we will fill the tires with helium. And press on....

As i tell, *awe hell, snow* don't ask dumb questions.. im going to park it by the other one.
Order parts.
Then let it sit, thinking im working on them.

Some folks on the forum will understand this next phrase.
Put the word monster all over the description...... buy a lot of cheap tractor paint, and put a one in front of what i paid $ for them.

reality, Its really all about the adventure of finding them for me. Two of these were bought new, delivered to anchorage driven to where they were found, they worked their entire life off the road system.
Sitting down in america, i told myself, i would fly up, rent a truck and trailer from u haul and spend a weekend Getting them moved. The sellers family had mercy on me and moved them for me b4 i ever got up there. A crazy network of new friends and old put a movement plan that included 2wd motorcycles through dozers and included bush bridge building.
Some folks forage for berries. I was able to forage for snowtrac components.

If you have met me i do present as a fairly sane human. But i do spin out of orbit easy and what little brains i have are quite malleable. So when i see a large dopey pc of iron i think of what it must have been like to command the resources necessary to locate the equipment and deploy it to accomplish a task. These photos are of a specimen driven to its location like the snowtracs i couldnt live without.

Researching that took me to a text of a former apprentice....

Hella K-1288 red rear reflectors. One of the only things i still need for our 1958 Snow Trac friction drive🤞

Here I am, looking at this thread, longing for my old 1972 Snowcat, which I errantly sold and shipped off to Canada.

Now I'm dreaming of NEW SERIES 'Lost In Space' snowcats.

Maybe the "props' department will be selling them off someday.
