Ice Queen is sick in Wales UK

We got a call at the house today from Anita/ICE QUEEN telling us some bad news. She was supposed to be hopping on an airplane and flying from London to Chicago and staying with us for 2 weeks. She was hoping to celebrate Melen's 16th birthday with us and we had plans to travel around the area to show her some more of the sights, visit the Amish community, let her see some good midwestern lake effect snow from Lake Michigan, visit the Science & Industry museum, etc etc etc

The plan was that she was leaving her home in Wales about 5 days ago and going to her daughter Zoe's house for Christmas, then from Zoe's to London's Heathrow to Chicago's O'Hare.

Turned out she got some sort of bad flu (?) and made it Zoe's house, but headed back home to bed ended up feeling too sick to travel.

Not really sure what she has, but she's been down sick for the better part of a week and feeling no better

Just wanted to let everyone know so they could send her some good thoughts :flowers:

Sorry to here , Best of luck getting better soon ICE QUEEN , Thoughts & prayers for a quick recovery . :flowers:

Anita, I hope you're feeling better soon. I know your trip is mainly a wash by now, but hopefully you'll get over here again soon.

Best Wishes Anita. What a shame about your trip. Weather should be better in 3 or 4 months if you can regroup and do it then. :thumb:

Hope that you get to feeling better soon.

It's probably just as well that you scrubbed your trip. There's nothing worse than felling ill when you are traveling. Stay home, keep warm, snuggle up, take your meds and get better soon.

Sure am sorry to hear that , The flu really sucks . Even your hair can hurt . I hope she plans to still come at a later date ????

I hope Ice queen gets better. Don't know here well myself, but she seems to be a nice lady.

She is super nice and the trailer she has restored is amazing !!!! Rumor has it that she is dumping the Snot Track she owns and picking up a real snowcat built by Kristi !!!
Get well darlin !!!!:whistling::clap::w00t2::biggrin:

The flu on top of the nasty winter weather they are having over there must be really bad. Hope you bounce back quickly and get back on your feet.

What Frank said.

Take care Anita, and a speedy mend to you dear.

There is a nasty flu bug kicking up a stink in the UK at the moment and i presume this is what Anita has picked up,my wife had it and although she is one tough cookie it knocked her straight off her feet, took my wife weeks to recover and even now she is not 100% so if this is what Anita has got then she will be unwell for sure.

Anita get plenty of bed rest and stay warm....make sure you top up on your vitamins as this did seem to help my wife,i got her some Minadex Tonic to do this and it did help, that was on top of the paracetamol to control the aches and pains and Bronchal methylated medicine to help break the cough, she did have terrible headaches along they way....plenty of fluids is a must.

Do not be tempted to push yourself back in to normal every day life my wife tried this to early on and got knocked straight back off her feet.....rest up and take your time this Flu is un-forgiving.

Prayers and positive thoughts to help you through this Anita....get well soon and do not hesitate to call the Doctor if you feel the need to.

Got an email from Anita today.

She is STILL SICK but is beginning to feel better.

She is having trouble logging into the ForumForums to give us an update, something about a lost or messed up password. Hopefully Doc can sort that out and reset it so she can put in a new password and sign on. She said that today was the first day she even felt well enough to turn on her computer. She has not even unpacked her car, which still has her packed suitcase in the back!

Anyway, it sounds like she got a nasty bug but is now on the mend.

That must be one rotten bug they have going around over there!

I've had the same problem a couple of times Bob, and did have to change my password on here and on my email account, as well as another forum.

Give her our best until she can get in here.

Anyone got a update on Anita????????

I'd be interested to know as well.

Last spring I caught an respiratory infection that put a dampener on my UK vacation. It took me months to finally get rid of that SOB. I feel for you Anita. I hope when you read this you are all hale, hearty and chipper and asking yourself, "What are all these people going on about?"

Well I hope she has a good recovery and can redo her trip to visit. I think she will have a great time when she gets it done!

I received an email from Anita yesterday. Mostly personal stuff between her an my family, but here is the bit about how she feels:
At last I am starting to feel a bit more human again.

...

I haven't yet tried to get back to forumsforums as I haven't got a lot of energy at present and even the slightest thing seems to take a lot of effort and computers need too much brain work and the brain is still suffering from flu mush - I seem to have a permanent headache!

...

I mailed Anita late last evening and heard back from her.

She says she is feeling better, but not yet back to her usual form.
She also seems to be having a bit of a problem logging in here,- I'm sure she's contacted Doc about it by now.

She and Timba sent lots of love and she invited me to Wales for a visit.

Hello everybody, I'm back, very wobbly, but here! Thank you all so much for your good wishes and thank you to Doc for enabling me to get back here today after my computer had played up - perhaps it has had the flu also! That flu bug is as Galvi describes and I wouldn't wish it on anybody. My daughter has had it too and is feeling as wobbly as me, it takes some shaking off. Apart from a head full of cotton wool, a nasty cough and breathlessness, I think I am definitely better. I was so sorry to have missed my trip to America, I was so looking forward to it and hope I will be invited again. Thanks again to all.

Eh good looking it is great to have you back.

Anita take your time getting back to normal as you do not want any kind of knock backs.....you have been missed:flowers:

. . . I was so sorry to have missed my trip to America, I was so looking forward to it and hope I will be invited again.
Ahhh, we'll see :whistling:

By the way, Melen announced she is going to backpack around the UK and Europe in a couple years with some friends. She's hoping that she can stay with you. What worries me most is she asked "what is the drinking age in Wales, maybe Anita will take us to the pubs" :ermm:
