So a box showed up yesterday from J CREW.
I knew that in advance, because UPS sent me an email saying my package from J CREW was delivered.
I don't buy from J CREW, naturally assumed it was ordered by my sister-in-law or the lovely Mrs_Bob, or possibly one of the girls? Everyone said no. So when I get home last night after fencing we look at the box.
My name. My address. UPS sent me a photo of the box on my doorstep after they delivered it, but UPS has my email address and sends me delivery confirmations all the time.
Inside is a pair of classic leather black "penny loafers" in size 10. I don't wear size 10. I don't wear penny loafers.
Search my browser history for J CREW and find nothing. Search Amazon, because they have a 1 click buy and they have 'store affiliates', and can't find anything there. Search email for order confirmations. Seach everything I can think of in my computer. All NOTHING. Search my credit card statements and there is NOTHING there tied to J CREW or any other mysterious charge from any other source that I can't confirm. At this point, I did not order these and I did not pay for them. J CREW doesn't even seem to have my email address.
The lovely Mrs_Bob calls J CREW and finds out that the order is valid, it was placed by someone that J CREW would only identify as having a first name of "BEN" and the last 4 digits of his credit card and the expiration date.
I look up my wife's credit cards, both of the girls credit cards, even check with the S-I-L and NONE of my household's cards have anything that matches the expiration date or the last 4 digits of the card.
J CREW is now starting a fraud investigation on their end. I don't really care, seems like I'm not out anything. And because the name on the card is not me, it appears to J CREW these were ordered by someone and, apparently accidentally shipped to me. Waiting to see what they want me to do with the shoes. I'll send them back (at their cost).
