Howdy Folks, I'm buying an Imp!

Sorry can't get the pics to upload. I will try again. I'm not quite sure why yet. I try to upload them and then a "upload failed" dialog pops up. Any suggestions?

PM coming your way Rampage.

Trying again with the photos.

Here are a few more shots of the machine. Took some below and of the rear brake mechanicals. It seems to be in pretty good shape and appears to have been stored inside. It was really dusty in the cab and on pretty much any flat surface prior to running it. The history on the machine is that it was owned by Mountain Bell which became Qwest. Peterson Equipment in Logan Utah bought it new from Thiokol and set it up for Mountain Bell (serial #tc 934 I think,1975 ish) and then took it on a trade this past fall. We finally got it this week. It has a trailer, a thiokol unit, that has been with the machine since it was new so we will use it most of the time we trailer it. I am really surprized at how much fun it is to drive. Its been snowing here most of the day, I can't wait to really get it out!

Rampage you are going to enjoy that imp alot , they are fun to operate in there on little way. I had a hard time keeping my beer upright will operating my imp. Have fun.

I just noticed something and am wondering if anyone knows. In the above picture, the one with the slave cylinders, there is a hose coming off of the top of the right one. Does anyone know what that might be? I don't remember them discussing hydraulics. I will ahve to go take a closer look. Thanks in advance.

No, just the two brake lines that go to each slave cylinder, right and left that come back from the two master cylinders on the steering handles.

Don't see anything else that isn't on mine.

The thing you see above the right side steering slave assembly, is the gear shifter rod coming back to the rear Axle from up front.

Rampage,

One thing you might want to know about before you start taking long trips. The rear boggie axle is the weak point on the Imp's. I know of a few Imps that have broken them off and at the worst times, as mine was before I bought it.

Here is a photo of mine and what I did to make them stronger. I drove a round heavy wall pipe all the way though both the front and real axle tubes, then drilled and bolted each outside end. That allows a bit of flex, but will not let it go too far out of "Straight".

They are a bit of a hassle to drive in because the fit is tight, but if you use a flash lite and look into the square tube, you will see a weld line on the inside, if you grind a flat spot on the round pipe to match it, it will make the sledge work a lot easier.
