How to slow down a road/trail slip?

DSC00757slide.jpg

This is the hill I run down to our river bottom. The red line is my trail and the the tallest trees at the top are clost to 80ft. I have one bad spot and thaat is at a tree uprooted on the trails edge. I think my rocks are what set the trails apart.
My problem is deep water crossing . I did 20" water depth today for a distanec of 40ft. Rhino does good with the 11" ground clearance. I would like to try a RVT but the ground hieght is low. Can you lift them some?
I burn wood and haul it to the top of the hill.

Jim on my trip to Nebraska last summer I got to try out one of them john deere gators. I have to admit I was impressed not only with the power of the 3 cylinder gas motor but just how quiet they were compared to the sport utv's . I told the sales man the only weak spot I see is the lack of water proofing but he informed me there was a fording kit available. If I was ever to ditch the jeep I might be inclined to look into one of them

Thanks Don. I'll have to go look at them. The 10.5 ground clearance is good.
I was checking out the Bobcat utility on line today. it is 9.5 clearance .

I bought a camo JD gator. 3 cly diesel. It needs a little fixing to cross more than 6" of water like the manual says. Vents on axle are like a car. Just a venting cap on the housing. it's really decieving haveing off road tires and 11" of clearance .

Congrats. How about a pic of that bad boy?
I've had to go through big old puddles about 12 to 15 inches deep with my RTV but the puddles are only 8 to 10 ft long. I've heard of some raising their RTV but I don't know how high you can go, and I guess it's a mute point now that you bought the gator. Sorry I missed your original post. Our trails are very similar. Mules idea for driving in rebar stakes worked well for me. Road is easily passable. Not the perfect fix but it will work for this year.

I will like to know how you like the diesel the model. I played with was 3 cyl gas and about 80 hp they sit tall, the dealer said they had a fording kit for it ,which included an intake stack for both intake air and cooling air for the belt drive one thing I would do if it isn't all ready equipped with a belt housing drain I would add one.

I am interested in finding more info on that fording kit. It must be an aftermarket .Jd doesn't list one. can you give me the place you talked to the guy at?
jim

they may not make one for your model, but the one I looked at they did. the reality was with some rubber boots and abs pipe one could easily make their own. now how about some pictures I'm feeling like Big Al and can't read anymore.
