Getting old sucks

Today started buffing the 36 Carver. Got about 1/3rd of the sides done and am sore. Twenty years ago we had a 42 aft cabin carver. Actually 48 ft long. We could completely clean and buff the whole thing, hull sides, top sides, hardtop, everything, in about a day and a half.
And here I thought I'd have nothing to do in retirement!

Joys of spring with summer toys. Lol 😆 I've been doing the same thing on the camper. Same deal. Fiberglass with a gel coat. Lots of buffing.

That is why I got rid of our boat. I was spending more time keeping it looking good than I was using it.

So true for me especially this year. But I'm all ready to dump her in the water in a week or two. Can't wait.

Mine is already in the water and I haven't been over there for 3 months. Looks good Doc, how long did you save up for the fuel bill, if you run it all day its gotta be $500.00 now days. Out here where I am on the Ca. delta, most all the 26'-40' boats are gone if they are gas, only the diesel ones left. Gas on the water is around $10.00 a gallon out here.

Get a solar powered boat. It is the future.
I have two. One in the water and one on the hard. I haven't had time for either. In in a month,,,,we'll see how my age, and theirs, matter.

Mine does not stay in the water unless I'm boating that day. I can get by on 150 to 200 in gas for a weekend usually. We do some cruising and a lot of floating, tie ups with other boats. Since I fill up off the water gas for the boat is same as the price of gas for my car. Currently that is 3.59.
Like Waybomb said, waxing takes over twice as long as it used to. Old and slow. It kills my back.

The woodpile takes longer, the lawn takes longer, outdoor pressure washing takes longer.

I'm getting my new pickup (when it comes in, 8 months and waiting) ceramic coated. No more waxing. It'll be good 'nuff.

Maybe it isn't getting older that is the problem. Maybe it is the old people not kn owing what is really important and what is.

Both sides below the gunwale done. Starboard side above the gunwale done. Tomorrow is port side above gunwale and transom.

I am 73 and have not had any problems.
Depends on what you are doing, Im 65 and ride and train horses, work a construction business and can work harder than the young guys, maintain 7 acres of ranch, work at the work cabin on the mountain, do all my own equipment and vehicle repairs and have multiple projects going at the same time, but if I do it as hard as I used to, I pay for it a little and I sleep more. Also lately I have been noticing pains here and there that I never had. I guess its time to start working out again.

That ceramic worked pretty good on my wife's Pacifica until she took on a highway construction sign. Before that, everytime it rained her car looked brand new.

I ceramic coated my pickup. It is so easy to do. There is no heavy buffing like a wax would require. I have used Cerakote which is less than $20 at WalMart. I can do my whole truck in less than an hour. It really looks shiny wet or dry.

I saw that ad on TV. Cerakote is good stuff. I have used their version for restoring faded plastic and it worked wonders on my pickup. Amazing. I shall give that stuff a try. (y)

Got the port side above the gun wale done today.
Also, at the building. Exchanged the 5hp 208 motor with a 480 tefc 480 motor. Also swapped out the starters. Awaiting a 480 pressure switch.
On the Boston whaler, removed the 2 cycle oil reservoir tank. Making premix. No chance for failure.
Them to the sl600, top down, for its first ride of the year.
Now. Sitting down in the sun drinking some wine with the wife.
Yes, I like retirement!
