You might be wondering why the heck I am blading so deep in fresh snow?? Well, just as I was stopping to take some photos, my right track went off the road platform and sank a bit (note the tilted machine), hence the blade-dive and blade full-o-snow. Normally on the way up the mountain I take out all the snowmobile moguls (can't stand 'em - they get to be 4' tall!), then on the way back down I widen and level the road a bit, just putting the icing on the cake. As a former ski area groomer 25+ years ago, I have a tendency to be a bit of a perfectionist with my road building - some might even call me anal, and often do. But I've been called worse for sure!

I would think of it as taking pride in your workmanship. Rather than "being anal", I think you're setting the example for others to follow. Good on 'ya!

Many thanks BFT. You, of all people, know about taking pride in your workmanship!

Nice big storm in western Colorado this weekend. It came in warmer and wetter than we are used to, but it makes for a nice solid road base. I was dead on the trail with a failed fuel pump a couple days ago, but after replacing it she now purrs like the proverbial kitten

Nice day in western Colorado today. Our snowpack is above average for the time being. About 6-7’ on the ground at 11,000’. Unfortunately my fire extinguisher fell out the door and slid away right before these pics. Guess I’ll retrieve it next summer!

Paid a visit to our remote cabin yesterday. Like other parts of the West, we are having a banner snow year here in Western Colorado. Our cabin sits at 11,000’ in one of the State’s three “snowbelts”, so it snows here much more than other parts of Colorado. Our current snowpack is sitting at 7-8’ of solid base with a very fluffy topping. It snowed all day yesterday with light dry powder. Anyway, here’s some pics of our place that we access with our LMC (and sometimes by 4-stroke snowmobile with fat skis).

Love it. Though with the snow belt, I would think a second story entrance would be useful. Had a few comm sites that had that feature. (and a few with roof hatches).

Great idea. I recall some places that have 2-story outhouses for the same reason. Just make sure you always choose the upper story…
