double standard quotent at TBN getting higher

Wow.. the cheeze gets stacked taller every day over there.

Just recently I had a message um.. -moderated-. beacuse it had the -possibility- of becoming political, and causing a problem. The message lived about 73 milliseconds after I started the thread. An no PM to let me know the message was removed. After PM'ing many mods and staff, i finally got a response from Bird saying.. well.. it was killed because it might have started a problem... Ok.. not too big a deal I though.. they want the big kid gloves on.. no problem. However when i asked about the lack of notification, the response was.. " it's our policy to notify someone when their post gets removed.. that mod must have just forgot to pm you... ".

So yesterday I'm on the related topics forum, and there is, suprisingly enough, a thread titled "politics'. I figure wow... they have a 0 tolerance policy on political discussions... how could a thread titled politics be still here.. and with 30+ reples to boot.

I posted a reply something to the effect that I was surprised that the thread was still here as I had had a thread deleted that lasted only a few milliseconds because it had the -potential- to become a political problem.. go figure.

Well no surprise, that this am.. my post was gone.. and the thread was locked.. but not removed... and of course.. the forgot to PM me again.. how convienient right?

Chris, what the heck are you doing coming over here stirring up a bunch of malcontents like us. . . don't you know THIS IS THE DARK SIDE of the internet. Now how freedom of speech and acting like an adult can be considered wrong, I simply don't know. But all I can say is welcome back. We haven't seen you here in a while.

So apparently you are tired of TBNs serving of plain vanilla?

Well Chris,

First, welcome back. :thumb: Haven't seen you here in awhile.

Welcome to our world. Many of us have encountered the same. Hang around here for awhile. With very rare exception, we can discuss anything here.

Well...........

I jumped in there and priased TBN for sticking to what they decided on politics.. Then I gave the guy a link to a place where he could say what he wanted as long as he respected the others..Here...That didnt last long.. Someone else added a link, I added a smart assed remark about mine being gone, now, his is gone.....

The answer I got to my missing link to forumsforums, was that TBN doesnt allow support for a website that bashes or tries to hurt TBN.. Apparently, someone tried to "damage, harrass, or disrupt TBN".. Dont know, wasnt around then.. But I replied that this doesnt apear to be the case and as an adult, I frequent both.. If I dont like a thread, I leave it alone.. Its childish, but guess it wont change.......

Yo Chris! One thing I notice is that "over here" I don't have to be all paranoid about mentioning a conversation or topic that is going on at another site. If I am "over there", I really have to carefully watch that I don't mention any conversations to topics going on at one of the select other places that TBN consider's an enemy. Some other boards can be mentioned, and even linked, but definitely not this one. I enjoy the information available as well as the online friendships that arise. This board is definitely no threat to TBN. I don't want to say anything bad about them, but I don't quite understand the double standard and why some boards can be referenced and linked and you may get banned for mentioning others. I honestly wish it wasn't that way.

You bring more knowledge on a certain genre of tractors than most anyone. You would be an great asset to any site with your knowledge in those areas. I don't know you personally, but I don't get the idea that you are a teenager and need your words carefully monitered. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

Yep.. I know my tbn account is on the line for being over her talking to you guys from the other side of the internet.. but... oh well.. sometimes ya gotta take the chances...:pat:

Havn't seen me in a while as I had a big pc crash a while back.. lost all cookies and links. Tried to get back on about? a month ago.. but honestly just forgot again after that untill I say this site mentioned on TBN this am.

As for plain vanella.. heck I don't mind the vanella.. it's those sh*t flavored sprinkles they keep dousing you with every time someone breathes over there...

The issue I just posted about was serious cheeze.. and no one even has the b@lls to pm you and tell you that they are bending you over.. they just prefer to do it silently...

I've pm and complain.. but heck.. they probably delete that one too:moon:

Their moderation style leaves ALOT to be desired there. Suposedly their policy is to notify you when they moderate you... so far last two moderations have yeilded exactly: 0 pm's. Go figure.

You know.. I don't even mind them keeping 'topical' forums... what I take issue with is selective enforcement of topics. Politcs is a no-no when i post a message.. yet another posts a message and it gets 30 replies.. I step in and say.. gee.. why is this message so special as to not get deleted.. and then the roof caves in.. again.. go figure... And by the way.. my message I had posted a few weeks back.. really wasn't meant to be political.. but rather was referennncing regional sociology among different cultures... anyway.. it lasted about 73 milliseconds... )

As for friends and info? That's one reason i don't want to leave tbn.. I know lots of nice people over there.. and the vast diversity of people tends to bring in lots of good answers when you have a question.

As far as straight 'tractor talk' goes.. I tend to like the old stuff..so i prefer YTmag as my main haunt for tractor talk. Again.. real nice people there.. However big difference. It is once in a blue moon when a post has to be deleted, or a person removed...and the forums are slightly less topical.. still .. lots of good answers. I'd dare say that if you have a tractor from early 80's and older, and you need an answer.. you will most likely get the right answer at YTmag, and probably talk to 6 guys that owned that tractor and did that repair... When you get to the newer tractors ytmag can't compete with tbn... same with some of the other topical subs tbn has... still.. my pont is tbn swings the hammer of moderation hard and often.. ytmag keeps it locked in the back, and almost vever has to use it... kinda makes ya wonder if there is a connection... like.. the more posts tbn moderates, and the more rules they pile on.. perhaps they are adding to their own work load in a weird synergystical way....

The general 'respect' level over there seems to have suffered a bit in the last year.. it all feels like the novel '1984'... quality of life is just gone over there..

As for teen years? :applause: long past.. though I wouldn't mind weighing what I weighed when i was a teenager:coolshade

( oops.. looks like I need to get off this soap box... guess someone else might want to use it!!! )

Chris to put things into perspective, Junkman, bczoom and I are moderators over here. For the most part Junkman sleeps all day. Bczoom stirs up most of the trouble here. And I like to follow Bonehead, Gatorboy, Dargo and a few others around these forums and, when they are not looking, edit a bunch of bad grammar and misspellings INTO their posts. :moon:

:yum:

Well.. I'm saving you the trouble. of editing my posts then.... I'm one of those guys that types good and accurate at about 40-50 wpm.. but can bang out 90wpm with a bit of creative spelling! Comes from years of command line programming for software under dos, and light night computer sessions / bad eyes...

Re: double standard quotient at TBN getting higher

Welcome back to the dark side. :coolshade

I did not quite figure out completely what you were trying to say on your last post on the thread that was closed. However with that post and Nixon putting up a second reference to this site I knew that either it would be closed or pulled completely.:smileywac

Hey, Chris, good to see another Floridian for a change. Cowboyjg is selling out, and Reddogtwo doesn't spend enough time in the sunshine state.

I got moderated and then banned without the courtesy of a PM or any other notification. I admit I broke their rules, but I did it to protest that others were getting away with immoderate comments. Those folks are stll there and I was banned -- no biggy, being here is a lot more fun.

We do get into politics from time to time -- you can avoid it if you want, it's all in one section -- and we still stay pretty good friends. Check it out -- we argue in one section, compliment each other in another section, and make fun of each other in yet another section. Couldn't be better. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we're all expected to act like adults, for the most part.

TBN is going down faster then the USA is outsourcing....

Muhammad is a clown at best and his mods are f'ed up! LOL

I too got banned with no notice, a quick email to M and got it all sorted out. I've had a couple of deletions, usually with more than one PM about it, most saying how funny it was but how it isnt acceptable. Most the mods over there are pretty nice guys.

I didnt think that politics here would be a good idea, so far no worries, I figured the disputes would spill over, but so far no go. I just stay out the politics area (yea, I know, I'm here now, its like a wreck, you just cant help but look) so I dont get attacked or piss anyone off too much and becuse for the most part I dont have a clue what you guys are on about, all those long words :pipo:

Mike, isnt that a bit of a broad and poorly thought out statement?

Holy crap Mike, I have one of my migraine headaches today and your head jerkin' avatar is killin' me! Did you speed up his head jerk, or is it just my pounding brain playing tricks on me? Gimme a different one for about the next 12 hours. I'll give you a thousand bucks. :thumb:

P.S. Don't hold me to any promises I make when on pain killing meds for a migraine.:tiphat:

Well it seems to me that BOTH sites are so different that they can co-exist in peace. BUT it also seems that the policies that TBN seems to be enforcing are actually driving people to this site.

I still post over there from time to time. Posted a few times in the past 2 days. But I'm not over there to make them angry and I don't think most of the other members here do that either. But it does seem obvious that many people are really tired of the lack of real opinion, lack of hard fact, and the constant repeating of the same material. Add to that the guys out there like "Highbeam" and "Bird" who seem to offer advice that is often questionable & sometimes dangerous and you can see why so many people are migrating to other sites.

The main reason TBN doesn't like this site is because of Junkman. Its that damn cat in the bikini photo that he posted over there. They banned him and said the photo was naughty. He posted it here so now TBN claims this site is not "family friendly" . . . yet TBN allows links to sites that make the language on this site look absolutely tame. Some of the welding forums you can link to on TBN make me blush like a little girl!

The double standard is what finally got to me. i don mind rules.. or lots of rules.. or drak ages crack your knuckles like a nun- rules.. but for pete's sake.. enforce them the same to everybody. If political discussions.. or ones that can become political are absolutely off topic.. then they all get deleted.. not just mine, and yet.. let someone else's run up 30 replies.. etc.. Selective enforcement... that leads to elitism.... fanatacisim... etc.. next thing you know .. well never mind... ...

Soundguy

Chris what you feel has been felt by 100+ other members at this site. TBN is actually driving some of their members here (and elsewhere). Its not like we went over and recruited you, heck you found your way here a few months ago. You chose not to come back for quite a while. TBN actually pushed you here again.

Welcome!

Chris,

Welcome back or welcome whatever. You bring a vast knowledge of information with you. Love you comments on the other site all the time. Glad to see them here.

Now I can keep my TC in line.

double standards are TBN's foundation...I even stated that to Muhammad ..who can't understand that.

Hey Chris! Good to see you active over here. :tiphat:

Hey, save those comments for the therapy session.:D

You know, until I came to this site, I didn't know that I could be friends with a bunch of conservative, shoot em up, redneck, midwesterns type guys like Bob, and now look at me!:mullet:

Welcome back Soundguy. You can rant and rave all you want here and someone will still make fun of you.

Who you calling an ol' fogey ?????????

Besides, they didn't say the picture was naughty, they said it was OBSCENE...

Junk,
I even posted that pic at my personal website and posted a link to it at TBN. I was told I HAD to remove the picture from MY personal website. Not that they could have edited my post there or anything. They thought they had control over my own personal space.

Sorry, but I don't ever remember George ever saying that. That was said by Claude Pepper and here is the exact quote.......Junk...

A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, 'At my age, I don't even buy green bananas'.
- Claude Pepper]

However, George did say........

Nice to be here? At my age it's nice to be anywhere.
- George Burns

Funny old age quotes......

Hi Chris welcome.

Not sure if it obvious to you are not, but the TBN moderators read this site.

In my stupidity, I didn't consider this fact when I first started posting here. Becareful what you say here until you have decided that you really can live without posting on TBN or sending PMs to your friends for which you have no other contact info.

I have no doubt they will ban you if they don't like seeing something here.. all they need is to find an excuse to cut you off.

Good luck
-Alex

Hi Chris!

Great to see your expertise here too!

I've given up on trying to understand the standards at TBN. I still read and post there (especially since I bought the PowerTrac), but it's much easier keeping my posts there G and over-tactful, knowing I can speak my mind here!

It still perplexes me that they don't realize that and enjoy the co-existance, but since it seems to backfire and sends people here anyway.....:thumb:

And I thought I was the only one who offers dangerous advice! But I ussually preface my advice the fact it might not be safe. :o

OK....once again I took a strange tangent to a frank post...carry on
