My Father-in-law left his laptop at the house on Monday. Should be interesting when he comes back to get it and finds it looks like this.

Told you, don't leave your crap at my house. I've got enough of my on.:yum:

I bet he won't leave it there anymore. LOL :yum: Have you sent him a picture of it asking him if he forgot something?

I have a feeling it was the old "can you fix this" routine. I have the laptop that I bought for the wife downstairs since the dog shorted out the charging circuit. Thought about tearing it apart to put a new mobo in it . Then I get to thinking it would be a real expensive target to practice with the pistol on. :hammer: I hate laptops!

Muleman got it.

We went down to their house Saturday. Monica's mom thought it would be a good idea to pull a ROLLING file cabinet out from under the desk and set the laptop on it. Addyson (2 1/2) walked up to the laptop. Leaned against the cabinet and BOOM. The laptop went onto the floor. At first didn't think it did anything. But it turns out it landed on the power cord and shoved the pin out the back of the jack. It worked on battery power until the battery went dead.

They brought it up to me Monday afternoon. I tore into it. Had a little trouble getting the case apart but finally did. Saw what the power jack was and found one at a place called DCPowerjacks. Started Wednesday night trying to desolder the old jack. About an hour later and I was tired. Finished up getting it off last night. Let the board cool and put the new on this morning. Got it back together now. But the screen latch isn't working quite right. I'll have to see if I can get that adjusted before I give it back. I've already spent way to much time on just the latch and had to disassemble it once already because of it.:hammer: Darn thing works right when the case is apart.

Couldn't it is his first and only computer. Only had it about 10 months. Guess that warranty is now useless huh?:whistling:

I have been doing energy star power testing on PC's. I am glad I don't have to mess with laptops and notebooks. I really tear in to them to get to internal power connections. Laptops or notebooks would be a bear, especially to get back together.

Got the latch fixed, but it required me to disassemble the whole thing again. Once of the little latches on the case was broke and pressing against the slide assembly. Took the little piece out and all is well. It won't hurt anything, because there are something like 25 screws that hold the case together, so all is good. I'm actually posting this from it now. :)
