Except I know they record, don't know much else. Can you help?

Do they need hard-wired into a vehicle or do most/all just plug into a cigarette lighter socket?
Where do you mount the rear facing camera (or is there just a rear facing camera on the windshield camera)?
I see some have GPS. Any benefit to that? I don't need to know where I've been.
Does screen size matter much? Looks like playback can easily be done back to your cell phone or computer.
Are all brands pretty much the same?
What else to know or be aware of?

Get one with an internal capacitor, Sony video chip sets, and a park protect mode.

Front & rear cameras.

There are several review sites and it is shocking to see the video quality differences between them in side by side comparisons.

I’d suggest you do some research on the review sites.

I ran some random cheap visor camera. it had a front facing camera, (110degree) and and 60 degree interior camera.

GPS enabled it had a good sized hard drive with a SD slot. we just fed it 12V and went down the rally stages. it was really interesting to see the data after the events.

I recently considered grabbing some newer style I would have to believe they are blue tooth now and possibly web enabled.

Might have been black box?
