Society has certainly changed its attitudes over the years.

Anyone else remember Chicken Pox parties?

Granted, is a small number of cases, diseases like the measles, mumps, chicken pox, etc can be fatal. But its pretty amazing how the attitudes of society have gone from ‘casual’ to ‘catastrophic’

 
Many here are from that generation that did not fear adversity. In fact, we intentionally embraced it.
If for no other reason than to just get it over with.
Measles and Chicken pox, no big deal.
