No it's not. I've ALWAYS considered myself a republican. Swore I'd never touch another gun in my life, then ended up later on at an IDPA match per a friend and forgot how much "fun" guns can be. Now have more than I can shoot. Consider myself "conservative", but am at the point in my life where I do question my goverment and don't think I'm "anti american" for doing so. Voted republican in ALL the presidential elections since I could vote, but now am not so sure Mr. Reagan was as smart as I thought he was. HATED Mr. Clinton, wouldn't vote for Gore, Dean is a carpetbagger and god forbid if Hillary runs. My county is "anti tax" (and we really don't pay any, we live in a very rural area), but for what our county has to offer, taxes may not be a bad idea if they are used properly (school system SUCKS). I don't believe that the goverment should "subsidize" people.

Example. You have a job, you come in drunk or late repeatedly, you get terminated. You should not collect unemployment. I've seen too many people get "hurt" at work, then try to "milk" the system for all its worth. It seems at times we as a goverment want to "pay" people for not being "productive" in the society they live in. I honestly believe we live in the greatest nation in the world, and your life is what you make of it. If your job sucks, get another one you like. Personally, I've come "a long way" in my life, and I honestly believe it's because I live in the United States.

Although I consider myself a republican, I don't have the "nuke em all" mentality of some others I know. I also think that our country has made mistakes and at times are afraid to admit to them because of who we are.
