I've been a Nascar fan all my life. Literally. Born in 77. First car I remember cheering for was Geoff bodine in the Levitt Garrett #5 back in the 80s. We watched every race faithfully and between my dad brother and I, one of us would tape it and we'd pass the tape around during the week. Now, I haven't watched a race all summer. Turned this one on. Fell asleep during the first stage. Woke up with 60 to go. Didn't miss much. Watched the freight train for about 20 minutes trying to stay awake. Got up and went and made supper. Came back and saw the usual talladega pile up. Just not a fan of the new cars that comes pre-assembled in a box they have to build like a set of Legos. And all the overpaid undertalented 20 year Olds fresh off moms tit who are only there because of who their last name is and how much sponsorship money they bring to the table. I much prefer the older days of owner drivers like Alan Kulwicki and Ricky Rudd. There's no real underdogs anymore. They all have basically the same equipment. It's no longer the one with the most talent. It's the one with the most money.

And formula 1, I have not watched them for years for the same reason. I much prefer going to the local dirt track 5 minutes from my house and paying $20 to get in for 5+ hours of nonstop action verses spending thousands between travel food hotel and tickets to watch a freight train.

Local tracks are fun. We have quite a few. Gingerman, a few dirt/clay tracks, and then if i want some drag racing, US131 is less than an hour away. But when home, if I can watch F1, I will.
The F1 series is a good watch. Especially if the race being covered was seen when it happened. Gives some insight.
