* 2022 Snow Cat Clowder * February 3-6, Bessemer Michigan.

Clowder by some numbers.......

  • 8. days out, the count down has begun.

  • 5 # of tracks, there is a tucker stripped to its frame waiting a loafer of the couch to get some tracks on a trailer in Idaho. Thanks Kevin, but seriously there was a tow motor.

  • 2 tuckers from eastern PA one is just starting to get a carb kit ordered...... the other was purchased (as many are) at this event last year and is still looking for a trailer to get back this year.

  • 7 empty tubes of grease slathered on an early 50's tucker on the east coast getting staged for a tucker tug to hell and beyond ( god speed to you )

  • -15 or colder, northern MN where -15 is Sweatshirt weather there is a bombardier project that looks like shrink wrap is a good idea ( ironically the same as last year ) again.

  • 2, number of ball joints My Dumb ass Broke in my prototype cruiser ( practicing getting on and off the trailer no less )

  • 300 + number of welds required in ND MN border, pretty sure I saw a pontoon cut to the skeleton 5 days ago.

  • 1 Heater, home made of course. My son has a girl friend ( longer than normal )so his rig got a heater after 6 years of owner ship

  • -14 its currently 14 below air temps ( wind chill is for idiots )

  • 1958 I think a rare pre SV series bombardier rig is going to make it to the event cira 1958 odd looking som bitch

  • 30-40 inches (a few weeks ago) of snow on the ground

  • 17 number of times i have pestered i mean invited Weatherby about coming to the clowder for a autograph session

  • 0 number of times he out right said no......
There should be a video attached from 1/25/2022 this is what weatherby is too busy doing to attend the national snow cat clowder.

My fellow east coaster is late to the party in true fashion, but with trailer bought tagged and even titled we’re ready to head north early Wednesday morning from Maryland. The cat is about 95% with only a few hundred track bolts left to tighten, a few dozen grousers left to weld and a few tubes of grease needed to hopefully make it up there

How’s everyone else doing??? Let’s see some photos!!! Start the hourly countdown!!! It’s gonna be another late one tonight!!! Sorry for not getting any videos out, but I’ve been working on it full tilt! It’s gonna be there but it’s gonna be in prototype status!!!! Nothing like a shake down run at the Clowder! I was told that it was fairly common!!!!

We are on display at big powder horn today. go grab that cat and be on the hill at 430 pm. we will be in the gun barrel lodge and the caribou after six pm. I am Bandwidth handicapped here There are emails waiting and pictures hanging in the hell of cloud based storage.

Any one every pick up a random Person. Everyone assuming he knows some one else. I introduced myself asked him who is with and he stated he was at the meet up to snow shoe to a water fall. He was offered a ride in a snow cat. ( he thought it was just up to and around the grounds) it is now 7hrs later he is somewhat hostage at a large grill out on the shores of lake superior and could not imagine being any where else. I hope to be this guy some day.

Just a couple of the cats at Powder Horn this morning. The one on the right is owned by a gentleman named Joel. Met and talked to him for about 30 minutes and got the run down on his machine. Very nice!

We got to Bessmer yesterday around noon. Missed everyone in the morning before they left for the ride. caught up with a few of the cats when they crossed the road near the start of the ride. Looked to be a lot of fun so hopefully I can get my 200 before next years meet up!

Excellent machine, thank you for the ride!!

I live outside of Washburn, and drove out to Long Lake on Thurs. I notice the trailer that had the Snow Trac and the double track/double ski 4 door snow machine on it. What is that machine? I would like to look up the history of it but can't find anything about it. In one of the pictures something is being towed that looks to be that unit. My son and I were at Powderhorn on Sat. but didn't see it. Although I took a couple of pics of it on Thurs.,I wanted my son to get a look at it. We drove out to Black River Lodge and there it was on the trailer minus a track. If anyone can lead me to some information on it I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Hartz

redsqwrl....thank you for the invitation, i will need to bring a trailer to the cabin in Greenland , MI to haul the lil fella to your event next year.
is there a date planned for next year yet ?

Joel is a local, he has two of those V6 powered tuckers. If you need contact info for anyone let me know, next year come to the networking events.
Thursday Black river lodge
Friday Sometimes somewhat nomadic, but caribou lodge for the entertainment
Saturday Hide away lodge ( awards and banquet )

Ah so you were the *some guys in a little grey car* I missed you by minutes all weekend, at the road crossing, I was assisting a track deficient tucker get out of the woods.. to the folks that have been on the superior cruise, we had to use the route with the tucker eating crevasses and they only bit one this year. sno-Drifter you can try to describe that crossing, it is not for every one.

I would have ventured over to Valhalla on Thursday evening as I heard that was a smaller group with their cats out for a ride, but didn’t know that was happening. Was it posted somewhere and I didn’t see it or was it an impromptu gathering?
Thanks.

Here are the cats that were at Powderhorn for the show 2022.
