I scanned my computer with Ad-Aware and it flagged a "Critical Object" which it identified as a tracking cookie:
Cookie: owner @microsoftwga.112.2o7.net/
Trying to figure out what it is about, I googled it and found it mentioned on several forums where people were trying to clear up problems. None of those problems seemed to be related to that cookie.
My guess is that it is related to Microsoft's recent efforts to detect unlicensed OS copies. If so, I don't understand why Ad-Aware would flag it. What are the consequences if I delete it?
I figure there are several experts here who know what this is all about and could save me from wasting a significant portion of my life digging for information. Anyone? Thanx ahead of time.
