For those that don't know, it was in the 80's here last weekend, so the runoff was strong. That area is dangerous as feck anyway, but this guy is just stupid. People typically break thru the crust then get pulled down stream under the ice sheet a few hundred yards. The body gets returned to the family early summer once the snow melts.

How is it nobody rushed, ran, sauntered over in that direction to help, dig or at least shoot better media?

Camera angle is deceiving. A long, steep way up to that point. Even the skier in the second vid is in an area I personally would be avoiding. The only reason it turned out the way it did is that he had the ice axe. Extremely surprised that a large chunk didn't break out while he was hacking at it and send him back down. There is a different vid (second link, second vid) that shows him boarding up to F&G / Ski Patrol for medical checkout afterwards and they were dropping the rescue gear they had to go try to see if they could retrieve him.
