I just got an email from my uber-liberal Congressman who was extolling the virtues of taxing others and then sending their cash to my local school.
Now I'm not sure why my local school needs your money for our school's security. Its already pretty darn secure (I know because my wife works there). Oh, and there is already a cop and a former cop inside. And another cop is one of the coaches. And the doors are locked preventing access. Even access to the parts of the parking lot is restricted with electric gates.
So I have to ask, why did you give us your money?

Dear Robert:
Ensuring the safety of the citizens of Northwest Indiana remains my top priority, which is why I am pleased to inform you of a local grant award to the Lowell community.
The U.S. Department of Justice recently awarded the Lowell Police Department a grant of $65,746 for the Secure Our Schools program. The Secure Our Schools program will help the Lowell Police Department work with school administrators, teachers, students, and parents to maintain the security of local schools and increase the Department's efficiency in responding to a call.
Our children spend nearly as much time at school as they do at home, and we need to ensure that they are just as safe there. These funds will be used to establish school safety programs, put in place violence deterrence measures, purchase safety equipment, and develop innovative policies to enhance the security of schools.
Please be assured that I will continue to work with local officials to help keep our communities safe. For additional information regarding the First Congressional District of Indiana, please visit my website, Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr pages.
As always, please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Peter J. Visclosky
Member of Congress
