I think that steers like a motorcycle and has a braking action on the tracks to help steer. The front wheel kept it from Porpoising at higher speeds and they were used for advanced scouting and messengers at the front.

My cousin had a Harley Davidson version that was given to him. The farmer put it in his barn after an American drove it out into his field and then a German Sniper killed him. My cousin was dating his daughter and he wanted an American to have it. He put it in Storage in Germany, got out of the Army and went back, but it had been stolen. Had less than 100 miles on it. Has photos and such, but doubt he will find it, that was over twenty years ago, Harley has all the serial numbers in case someone tries to get info on it. But it didn't have nearly the long tracks that German version has.

Any clue why it would have inner and outer boggies?? For braking or steering????

Some of their bigger tanks had the same system built into it as well.

I assume they were good in rough terrain and as high speed tracks. Seems a lot of the Soviet tanks have the same system of the era as well.

if you look at the german half tracks vs americain half tracks you will notice the german models ran the track 3/4 of the way under the vehicle the tires were used to steer in the highway only and the tracks had a controled differential like a thiokol for steering at low speed and off road the german rigs had an overlaping road wheel system wwith inner and outer road wheels overlaping,i suspect to smooth out the rde on wast board
