I do not understand why all these 343A machines are for sale at this time. Must be something I don't know about 300 machines.

The only thing I know for sure is this.

I wanted one.
I was looking around for one and trying to decide if it would be a working cat or a unique fun family toy.
Then,

I sat in one......

I was fine, but when the wife jumped in for a ride, the shoulder to hip ratio was exceeded. they are tiny.

It is probably just coincidence.

Its called the buzz hype effect. Back when Mainer and Myself were gathering 600 series Machines. The internet bots were slinging the 600 series savy all over the wires. Its much like the Wall Street traders pushing the right buttons at the right time. :brows: At those times if you did a search for snowcat the wires where going interweave the net right into your lap.

Very tight cozy quarters. 6' tall I had issues being comfortable but then again I have sat in 543 with similar front seat spacing that was even worse.

Still cool and seems reasonable without the pictures. It's probably already on it's way to a new home!

I guess for me it was those wonderful wear items, and rollers. Now I loved the 2000, and the 1544 I owned. I am more of a user not a restorer as you know.

one should always leave a few in the wild...

photos of said machine for sale, as found in the wild, i would be interested in the transport trailer, originally sold new to the FFA.

I talked to the owner this morning and am 99% sure I am taking it home.

A couple questions for the more knowledgable crowd:

Aside from being a small cab, any other drawbacks of this design?

What are the big "red flags" to watch out for?

Would this be a good deeper snow/mountain rig? Backcountry access?

Any other comments welcome.

As you can tell by my activity on the board lately, I am in a buying mood:brows:

Thanks, Brent

The first number is series, second number is Pontoons, third digit is number of doors? Or is first number of pontoons, second number speeds, third number is doors? So this should be a 442?

So it looks like I will be joining the Tucker crowd. Going to pick it up later this week. Thanks Ken...

Also thanks to Nick (Tye One On) for giving me some good information and practical advice about the 343 (or is it a 442???)

It is going to start it's new life in Petaluma, CA for a light restoration and then head North to Sandpoint, ID for some fun in the Selkirk Mountains.

I will keep you posted on future adventures.

Brent.

FFA?

I'm guessing you meant FAA...

FFA = Future Farmers of America
FAA = Federal Aviation Administration

yes i did mean FAA

the third series machine are meant to be a personal tucker, very tight inside and really to small for anyone to sit in the back seat, and otherwise it, you can use it for carry supplies, kinda not very good situation. though, a fun light machine, jim vt, the 343 is correct , 3 series, 4 pontoons and 3 was meant for sedan, and a 400 series machine is wider and larger machine, ah heck, it is a tucker.

I think it will fit my needs well. Light weight & nimble (as a cat can be). I will use it mostly for me and a buddy to get into some backcountry areas for skiing, hunting, exploring. Should be able to get enough gear into the back & use the roof rack as overflow.

Looking forward to getting it "out there" next season.

Jinn, I'm sure I will be in touch with you once I get into some work on it.

I heard through the grapevine you may know a thing or two about Tuckers.
