WTD - Family snow machine to purchase

WTD........I need help finding a family SnowCat hauler for 2 adults and 3 kids to access our winter cabin. Not picky on manufacturer - reliability is most important.

Any help in finding a quality machine that won't break the bank would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this SnowCat world and would greatly appreciate any assistance finding a good machine. Trailer would be a nice addition but is not critical. I am not as interested in machines wider than 102" or heavier than 5000 lbs.

Thanks,

Mike

Small, light and easy to tow ==> Aktiv Snow Trac ST4

A Thiokol IMP might also fit your needs if you can find one with a cabin. Not sure about the weight, it might be near your 5000# limit?

Price you willing to pay?!

As far as I'm concerned, everything is on sale for the right price...

As far as price goes - it really depends on the unit. Does is have a plow, trailer, a large finished crew area etc. Has it been rebuilt.

If I could find something in the $15 K. area that was in acceptable condition that could work for me. It's a good time to start looking around. If a person wants to strike a deal and sell before prices start to soften for the summer - it's a good time to deal. I'm not in a panic but if the right deal comes along I'm ready to jump in.

Also depends on location (freight cost wise). I don't mind winter road trips to p/u.

Look over my build thread and see if that a "satisfactory" one in your opinion, and what would you consider a good price for one like that...

Just interested if you can make me a "reasonable" offer I cant refuse... :)

I would recommend you send forum member brianf a PM. He's a pretty "connected" guy in the snowcat world and he lives pretty close to you. I think he'd be a great resource.

I'll also confess I bought a machine from Brian (via ebay) and he was absolutely outstanding to work with.

Good Morning: Please check out "craigslist/vt" to see an Aktiv ST-4b with light weight, easy tow, room for 6 or 7, deck, totally rebuilt, very reliable VW engine, and a deckover trailer.

Thanks so much for the heads-up, I will do just that. Sincerely - Mike.

Thanks to all for your assistance. I ended up purchasing a nice old Thiokol Spryte that should serve my purpose well. Pictures to follow.
